Our mission is simple yet ambitious: to improve lives through better health. By joining our team, you become part of a purpose‑driven organization that values innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning. Whether you are analyzing real‑world evidence (RWE) from electronic health records or shaping the next generation of clinical trial insights, your work will have a tangible impact on the health of communities worldwide.
Position Overview
The Remote Real‑World Evidence Data Scientist role sits at the intersection of advanced analytics, clinical research, and strategic decision‑making. Reporting to the Director of Clinical Data Science, you will lead the design, execution, and communication of data‑driven studies that inform drug development, therapeutic effectiveness, and health‑economic evaluations. This is a fully remote position, offering flexibility while providing access to arenaflex’s extensive data assets, state‑of‑the‑art analytics platforms, and a collaborative network of clinicians, biopharma partners, and data engineers.
Key Responsibilities
- Extract, clean, and transform raw patient‑level data from internal warehouses and external sources into standardized, analysis‑ready cohorts.
- Design and implement robust statistical analyses to answer high‑impact business questions, including unmet‑need assessments, safety and efficacy evaluations, and cost‑effectiveness modeling.
- Partner with cross‑functional stakeholders—clinical operations, epidemiology, biopharma collaborators, and health‑economics teams—to translate complex data into actionable insights.
- Develop and maintain a unified data lake that supports both exploratory research and production‑grade analytics, ensuring data integrity, security, and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Apply advanced machine‑learning techniques (e.g., classification, clustering, time‑series analysis) to uncover hidden patterns in real‑world data (RWD) that drive therapeutic innovation.
- Lead the creation of interactive dashboards, visual reports, and executive‑level presentations using BI tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or Spotfire.
- Conduct due‑diligence assessments of new data vendors, evaluating data quality, provenance, and suitability for RWE studies.
- Support the continuous improvement of arenaflex’s analytics platform by recommending new tools, methodologies, and automation opportunities.
- Ensure all deliverables meet the highest standards of scientific rigor, reproducibility, and clear communication for both internal and external audiences.
- Stay abreast of emerging trends in health data science, regulatory guidance, and industry best practices to keep arenaflex at the forefront of RWE innovation.
Essential Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g., Statistics, Biostatistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Epidemiology, or related field).
- Experience: Minimum of four years in a quantitative or computational role, with proven expertise in R, Python, or SQL for data manipulation and analysis.
- Statistical Expertise: Demonstrated ability to design and execute reproducible statistical analyses for observational studies, including generalized linear models, classification, decision trees, unsupervised learning, time‑series, and survival analysis.
- Data Management: Hands‑on experience processing large‑scale datasets from heterogeneous sources, and familiarity with protected health information (PHI) handling and HIPAA compliance.
- BI Proficiency: Working knowledge of at least one business‑intelligence platform (Tableau, Power BI, Alteryx, Spotfire, or similar) for dashboard development and data storytelling.
- Communication Skills: Ability to translate technical findings into clear, concise narratives for non‑technical stakeholders, including senior leadership and external partners.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ph.D. or advanced Master’s degree in Biostatistics, Bioinformatics, Biomedical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Experience with electronic medical records (EMR), health‑IT systems, disease registries, and claims databases.
- Familiarity with clinical data standards and ontologies such as ICD‑9/10, SNOMED CT, LOINC, and Read Codes.
- Knowledge of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and regulatory frameworks (e.g., ISO, MDD/MDR, CFR) relevant to real‑world evidence generation.
- Hands‑on experience with real‑time data pipelines, streaming analytics, and AI‑enabled data capture technologies.
- Background in experimental design, Bayesian modeling, sequential analysis, and computational genomics.
- Demonstrated ability to self‑direct learning, stay current with evolving data‑science techniques, and mentor junior analysts.
Core Skills & Competencies
- Analytical Rigor: Strong problem‑solving mindset with a focus on methodological soundness and reproducibility.
- Programming Fluency: Proficiency in R and Python (pandas, NumPy, scikit‑learn) and SQL for data extraction and transformation.
- Data Visualization: Ability to craft compelling visual narratives that drive decision‑making.
- Collaboration: Comfortable working in multidisciplinary teams, bridging the gap between data science and clinical expertise.
- Regulatory Awareness: Understanding of privacy, security, and compliance considerations in handling health data.
