Remote Part-Time Debate Coach/Instructor | WFH

Job Overview We are dedicated to harnessing the transformative potential of speech and debate, with a mission to cultivate critical thinking and enhance communication skills among students. Our organization empowers young individuals to express their ideas confidently and excel in competitive environments. We are currently seeking skilled and enthusiastic coaches for our Lincoln Douglas (LD) and Public Forum (PF) debate teams to join our expanding team. Key Responsibilities • Design and implement a thorough curriculum and lesson plans tailored for both Novice and Varsity Lincoln Douglas and Public Forum teams. • Deliver engaging 30-40-minute lectures followed by practical drills aimed at developing essential skills such as cross-examination, rebuttals, research, argumentation, and efficiency. • Create and introduce targeted drills to refine specific debate skills, including research assignments and unique argumentation strategies. • Assign homework and prepare students for tournaments by arranging additional practice sessions, which can be conducted online. • Facilitate discussions on topic analysis while guiding students in crafting compelling affirm and neg contentions. • Collaborate with fellow LD coaches to ensure a consistent approach to the curriculum across all classes. • Mentor and support students in developing advanced debate strategies, aiding them in competing at elite levels. Required Skills • Strong grasp of advanced debate strategies and a dedication to fostering student success. • Proficiency in teaching through both in-person and online platforms. • Excellent communication and mentoring capabilities. • Flexibility to accommodate evening classes, working once a week. Qualifications • A Bachelor's degree (or in progress toward completion). • Previous coaching or competitive experience in Lincoln Douglas (LD) and Public Forum (PF) debates, with notable achievements at the TOC, NSDA, or other premier national circuit debate levels. • Strong commitment to helping students excel in their debate pursuits.
