Position Overview

The Pharmacy Customer Service Associate at arenaflex is the face of our pharmacy department, delivering a distinctive and delightful customer experience while supporting licensed pharmacists in safe and efficient prescription processing. Key Responsibilities

Customer Experience & Service Excellence

  • Greet every customer and patient with a friendly, professional demeanor, establishing immediate rapport.
  • Assist shoppers in locating over‑the‑counter (OTC) products, answering product‑related questions, and recommending complementary items.
  • Model arenaflex service traits—proactive assistance, need identification, and service until satisfaction—to inspire teammates.
  • Resolve customer concerns promptly, escalating complex issues to the Pharmacy Manager or Staff Pharmacist as needed.
  • Maintain a clean, organized checkout area and ensure all transactions are processed accurately and efficiently.

Retail Operations & Sales Support

  • Operate the assigned cash register, handling cash, credit, and electronic payments while adhering to arenaflex cash‑handling policies.
  • Process voids, returns, rain checks, refunds, and exchanges in accordance with store procedures.
  • Suggestively sell promotional and seasonal merchandise, driving incremental sales and enhancing the shopper’s experience.
  • Keep counters, shelves, and display units tidy, well‑merchandised, and fully stocked; perform regular inventory checks.
  • Assist with pricing, tagging, and placement of new merchandise as directed by the Store Manager or Shift Leader.

Pharmacy Support & Prescription Processing

  • Under direct supervision, use arenaflex pharmacy systems to retrieve patient and drug information, enter prescription data, and verify accuracy.
  • Fill prescriptions by counting, pouring, and labeling pharmaceutical products, ensuring correct medication, dosage, and patient instructions.
  • Identify potential drug interactions or allergies, immediately reporting any discrepancies to the pharmacist on duty.
  • Handle non‑clinical telephone calls, including physician communications and third‑party claim inquiries.
  • Process manual claims for third‑party prescription programs, ensuring timely resubmission and compliance with insurance requirements.
  • Support the Pharmacy Manager with workflow scheduling, inventory management, and stock rotation using FIFO (first‑in, first‑out) methodology.

Compliance, Safety & Quality Assurance

  • Adhere strictly to state and federal regulations governing prescription dispensing, controlled substances, and regulated products such as alcohol and tobacco.
  • Follow arenaflex Pharmacy Code of Conduct and Good Faith Dispensing policies to maintain the highest standards of safety and ethics.
  • Report prescription errors promptly, participating in the Quality Improvement Program to prevent future incidents.
  • Maintain knowledge of asset protection techniques, filing claims for overages, shortages, or damaged goods as required.

Merchandising, Store Maintenance & Photo Services

  • Construct and refresh promotional displays, seasonal structures, and point‑of‑sale signage to attract shopper interest.
  • Assist with food‑safety protocols, separating raw and pre‑cooked items, and ensuring proper product placement per arenaflex policies.
  • Provide photo‑area services, including digital passport photos, poster printing, and creative machine assistance, while promoting related products.
  • Manage web‑pick‑up orders through Picture Care Plus, accurately picking items and delivering them to customers upon arrival.
  • Contribute to interior and exterior store upkeep, ensuring a clean, orderly, and welcoming environment for all visitors.

Training & Professional Development

  • Earn and maintain PTCB certification through arenaflex‑provided training programs or state‑mandated requirements.
  • Participate in ongoing training sessions, completing Performance‑Based Learning (PBL) modules and acquiring continuing education credits.
  • Stay current on pharmacy best practices, healthcare trends, and medication updates to provide informed assistance to patients.
  • Take on special projects or assignments as directed by management, showcasing initiative and adaptability.

Essential Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent; additional education in health‑related fields is a plus.
  • Previous experience in a retail or customer‑service environment, preferably within a pharmacy or healthcare setting.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage customers, listen actively, and resolve issues courteously.
  • Basic math proficiency for cash handling and inventory tasks.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 25 lbs, and perform repetitive motions associated with retail duties.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and adhering to HIPAA and other privacy regulations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current or pending Pharmacy Technician Certification (PTCB) or equivalent state certification.

  • Experience handling controlled substances and knowledge of Good Faith Dispensing protocols.
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask in a high‑volume environment while maintaining accuracy.
