[Remote] Business Analyst
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. BEPC Inc. is a 100% employee-owned company providing consulting and staffing solutions, and they are seeking a highly motivated Business Analyst 3. This role will support Enterprise Information Management initiatives and serve as a senior Metadata Ingestion Analyst, acting as a liaison between technical IT teams and non-technical program staff.
Responsibilities
- Work with program areas, project sponsors, and system SMEs to connect cataloging and lineage systems to source systems
- Automate regular collection and updates of metadata for high-value data assets
- Explain technical findings and data limitations in simple, non-technical language to end users
- Extract, integrate, and analyze metadata from multiple complex internal and external sources
- Collaborate with end users, performance analysts, and IT leaders to create visualizations for enrichment progress and reporting
- Provide subject matter expertise in validating AI-generated outputs and identifying and mitigating hallucinations
- Ensure all data outputs adhere to reporting standards, data governance requirements, and compliance regulations
- Develop and conduct training sessions for non-technical staff on data glossary concepts and tools
- Create clear documentation and tutorials for glossary tools and data synthesis processes
- Promote a data-driven culture by enabling employees to effectively utilize metadata and AI
- Work closely with data engineering, IT, and program teams to troubleshoot metadata-related issues and address inconsistencies
- Provide guidance to program staff on interpreting data trends and answering complex data questions
- Stay current with emerging AI and metadata analysis tools and techniques to improve data quality, reporting, and glossary management
- Develop and refine AI prompts and query strategies to accurately retrieve and synthesize metadata from complex data domains
- Guide non-technical users in crafting effective prompts to obtain accurate glossary information
- Develop and maintain a library of standardized prompts and query templates for common reporting needs
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in related field
- 8 years of experience gathering business requirements and translating complex metadata acquisitions and operational requirements into actionable data glossary access paths
- 8 years of experience explaining technical findings and data limitations to non-technical users and leadership
- 8 years of experience in complex data analysis, senior business/systems analysis, and/or data liaison roles
- 8 years of strong SQL experience for data extraction, manipulation, and enrichment
- 8 years of experience collaborating with end users, performance analysts, and IT leaders to create and validate glossaries and support business data lineage analysis
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
- 5 years of experience with Business Intelligence/Data Warehouse environments
- 5 years of experience serving as the primary point of contact for metadata/glossary needs on analytics projects
- 5 years of experience working in health and human services or similarly regulated environments
- 5 years of experience with data governance and data quality principles
- 5 years of experience with data glossary tools such as Informatica Enterprise Data Catalog (EDC) and Axon Data Governance
- 2 years of experience championing data literacy initiatives
- 2 years of experience training and mentoring staff with varying levels of data literacy
- 1 year of experience with AI prompt development
