[Remote] Research Associate

Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Self Storage Consulting Group (SSCG) is a nationwide, full-service self-storage firm that provides expertise across the entire lifecycle of a storage asset. They are seeking a Research Associate to support their Real Estate team by collecting, analyzing, and communicating market data for feasibility studies and investment analyses.

Responsibilities

• Conduct market rent surveys by researching competing self-storage facilities, collecting unit mix, rental rates, promotions, and amenities
• Analyze and explain market pricing differences, rent deltas, and competitive positioning across facilities
• Collect, organize, and validate quantitative and qualitative data used in feasibility studies and market reports
• Assist in evaluating supply and demand fundamentals, including existing inventory, pipeline development, and market saturation
• Maintain and continuously update internal databases to ensure accuracy and consistency
• Create clear tables, charts, maps, and summary visuals to communicate research findings
• Contribute to written sections of feasibility studies and client reports, translating data into clear, professional narratives
• Support research requests and special projects as needed

Skills

• Interest in data analysis, real estate, market research, or economic analysis
• Understanding of basic economic principles, particularly supply, demand, and market pricing behavior
• Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain data-driven insights
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills; comfortable working with large datasets
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
• Exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment while collaborating with a team
• Experience with market research, feasibility studies, or competitive analysis
• Familiarity with self-storage, commercial real estate, or site selection analysis
• Coursework or background in economics, finance, real estate, geography, or urban studies
