Medication Refill Center Pharmacist

Position Summary Under the supervision of the Medication Refill Center Managers, and according to department policies, procedures, and guidelines, is responsible for managing prescription refill requests submitted to the associated clinical department at Boston Medical Center. The Refill Center Pharmacist is responsible for triage and processing of approvals for refill renewal requests received by the associated medical clinic, utilizing a specified refill protocol and under scope of practice agreement. The Refill Center Pharmacist will work directly with pharmacies, providers and patients and serve as the lead for refill renewals for medications that fall within scope and protocol. The Refill Pharmacist will also triage any need for additional information in order to process requests and facilitate ambulatory engagement for patients when necessary.   • Requires a Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy from an accredited college of pharmacy. Advanced degree (e.g. PharmD, M.S. or MBA) preferred.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Required

  • Requires licensure to practice pharmacy in the state of Massachusetts by the hire date.

Experience

  • Requires at least two to three years related experience.
  • QS1 experience preferred.

Knowledge And Skills

  • Work requires a comprehensive understanding of the procedures, systems, and equipment used by pharmacists and technicians in the pharmacy as well as a high level of proficiency in performing pharmacist's duties and responsibilities.
  • Work requires a high level of analytical ability, organizational and personal management skill and focus to ensure the concerted approach to operations.
  • Practice experience working with as well as revising and/or implementing information systems.
  • Excellent interpersonal and telephone communication skills.
  • Professional in conduct and demeanor.
  • Proficient with standard software used in healthcare office setting (i.e. MS Word, Excel, web browser, etc.).

Compensation

Range $39.90- $57.93 This range offers an estimate based on the minimum job qualifications. However, our approach to determining base pay is comprehensive, and a broad range of factors is considered when making an offer. This includes education, experience, skills, and certifications/licensures as they directly relate to position requirements; as well as business/organizational needs, internal equity, and market-competitiveness.
