We are seeking a dedicated Child and Youth Program Assistant CY to join our team in Alabama, providing support to our Middle School/Teen Center at Redstone Arsenal. As a Child and Youth Program Assistant, you will play a vital role in planning, coordinating, and conducting activities that meet the physical, social, emotional, and cognitive needs of program participants.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, coordinate, and conduct activities that meet the physical, social, emotional, and cognitive needs of program participants
  • Establish a program environment that sustains participant interest and promotes positive interactions with other children, youth, and adults
  • Prepare, arrange, and maintain indoor and outdoor activity areas and materials to accommodate daily schedules and provide program options for children with special requirements
  • Maintain program participation data and complete daily reports
  • Serve as a role model and provide guidance and support to children and youth
  • Collaborate with other staff members to ensure the smooth operation of the program
  • Maintain accurate records and reports as required

Requirements:

Essential Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years old at the time of appointment
  • High school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) required
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing
  • Current health assessment documenting good mental and physical health, freedom from communicable disease, and immunizations in accordance with current Army and DoD policy

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working with children and youth
  • Knowledge of child development principles and practices
  • Certifications in CPR, first aid, and medication administration

Skills and Competencies:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively with children, youth, and adults
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment

Compensation, Perks, and Benefits:
