The Role
As a Senior Backend Improvement Engineer, you'll play a crucial role in driving the advancement of multiple core Stages related to sound/video organization, web-based live games, and VOD (Video On Demand) content across the globe. You'll be responsible for ensuring that our content is ingested on time and distributed according to the schedule, making it available to our users on various touchpoints in the Hotstar application. Your expertise will also help our content teams collaborate with content organization-related activities, providing a seamless playback experience for our users across various devices and platforms.
Key Responsibilities
* Serve as a technical lead in your area, working independently within the scope of your domain
- Follow best practices, establish guidelines for your team, and ensure the adoption of these standards
- Apply technical and domain knowledge within your area, as well as understanding of surrounding systems, to resolve complex issues at scale
- Develop HLD, LLD, and other frameworks
- Collaborate with key stakeholders, including product managers, designers, and senior engineers across the organization, to determine agreement on solution approaches
- Break down complex issues into manageable deliveries in larger projects
- Focus on work quality and ensure that excesses are updated regularly
- Participate in on-call rotations and identify repeat patterns, taking action to fix the root cause and ensuring proper documentation, visibility, and reliability of the systems you own
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to hiring top talent
Essential Qualifications
* Proficiency in Python/Golang
- Experience with building high-scale distributed systems
- Knowledge of designing and building low-latency and high-scale Microservices
- Familiarity with code management tools like GitHub
- Experience with datastores, including RDBMS and NoSQL databases like MySQL, MongoDB, and Redis
- Knowledge of building non-blocking frameworks using Kafka/Message queues
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Experience with CI/CD tools like Jenkins/GoCD
- Experience with setting up and driving observability aspects of Microservices to monitor and proactively identify foundational issues
Preferred Qualifications
* Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline
- Experience in Backend programming development
- Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS or Azure
