Job Description

The Statistics Analyst I is a part-time position in the Data and Analysis group within Blithequark Sports' Data and Insights. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy of sports data on Blithequark platforms worldwide, including scores, schedules, standings, and other key metrics. The ideal candidate will have a strong analytical mindset, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensure the accuracy, timeliness, and relevance of sports data distributed by Data and Insights.
• Work individually and in teams to deliver accurate detailed breakdowns, clock-and-score, and other metrics and data in real-time that power a wide range of Blithequark products and creations.
• Develop and maintain a working knowledge of Data and Insights' role in fueling Blithequark digital products and television creations.
• Verify the accuracy of one's own work and that of others; perform with a consistently high level of attention to detail.
• Contribute to production, projects, and initiatives across the newsroom, and support newsroom leaders who are coordinating full- and part-time staff.
• Anticipate potential issues, both day-to-day and long-term, and propose likely solutions. Communicate quickly and clearly with colleagues on these issues.
• Play a proactive role in working with colleagues in developing or refining production processes.
• Be an active participant in team and office meetings.
• Seek and respond to feedback around individual performance.
• Stay informed about current office policies and procedures.

Requirements:

• Working knowledge of teams, players, and the rules of sports.
• Full schedule availability, which will include evenings (only), weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to rapidly learn production processes that produce or potentially maintain sports data that drives Blithequark's digital and television products.
• Capacity to achieve a high level of content accuracy in time-sensitive production circumstances.
• Ability to communicate confidently - verbally and in writing - to production managers and colleagues about production issues and opportunities, often through the noise of a busy newsroom.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 1+ years' experience working in sports or potentially statistics, ideally in media.
• Knowledge of how sports data is used in media and for research purposes.
• Working knowledge of Blithequark products and creations.
• Experience with Microsoft Excel and other Office products.
• Experience leading or training a team.
• Ability to speak and write Spanish.
• Experience using social media in a business or news environment.

Education:

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Professional education or equivalent preferred.
