CNN Image and Audio Internships - New York

Remote role Full-time Open position

Support CNN’s Image and Audio teams in NYC with hands-on editorial, production, and editing responsibilities at Warner Bros. Discovery, a leader in global media and entertainment. Your Role: Key responsibilities include:

  • Taking direction from audio unit Producers and Senior Producers to shadow, develop, and produce podcast episodes.
  • Working closely with producers and hosts to develop episode ideas, including topics and guests.
  • Editing podcast episodes and news briefs in Descript.
  • Collaborating with hosts and producers on episode outlines and drafting scripts.
  • Fact-checking scripts and ensuring all episodes meet CNN’s content, quality, journalistic, and legal standards.
  • Supporting social promotion by identifying memorable audio bites and drafting social media language for produced episodes.
  • Pitching ideas for future episodes and shows.
  • News production editing.
  • Complex and creative graphic creation.
  • Creating stylized program elements (show opens, elements, and teases).
  • Documentary and other long-form editing.
  • Partnering on scripting, story development, producing, and fact-checking.
  • Producing and creating visual elements (video and graphical).
  • Distinctive storytelling.
  • Meeting metadata requirements.

About You: Candidates should possess the following qualifications and skills:

  • Actively enrolled in an accredited college or university degree program for the full duration of the internship (proof of enrollment required).
  • Rising Junior or Senior undergraduate (18 years or older).
  • In academic good standing (3.0 or above GPA); transcript required if offered.
  • Authorized to work in the United States without Warner Bros. Discovery sponsorship; candidates on student or exchange visas (F-1 CPT, F-1 OPT, J-1, M-1, etc.) are not eligible.
  • For CNN Audio Editorial Intern: Some previous editorial experience with a strong audio background; familiarity with Descript, Pro Tools, or Audition; strong organizational skills and attention to detail; passion for news, politics, history, and popular culture; strong collaboration and communication skills.
  • For CNN Image+Sound Editing Intern: Demonstrated technical and creative expertise in editing and producing, especially with Adobe Creative Suite, After Effects, and visual effects plug-ins; thorough understanding of video production workflow and file-based production environments; proven editorial judgment; willingness to develop skills on existing and emerging production platforms; agility in a fast-paced environment; collaborative approach to production projects.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Paid internship with a competitive hourly wage: $19 per hour for undergraduate interns, $25 per hour for graduate level interns.
  • 16–24 hours per week in a hybrid capacity.
  • Credit is not required, but documentation for school credit is available if desired.
  • No relocation provided.
