Python Developer-GIS WATER
McKim & Creed is a leading top 150 ENR-ranked firm and we are looking for a skilled mid-career Python developer (IoT) to join our Water team. This role is fully remote, but you should be open to occasional travel (10-20%) for team meetings, client interactions, or conferences. JOB SUMMARY: You will work as part of a cross-disciplinary team focused on water conservation projects for water utilities. These projects rely heavily on GIS (spatial) data and sensor-generated time-series data. Your primary responsibilities will include developing and maintaining our internal software for time-series data management and handling its inbound and outbound integrations. YOUR DAY-TO-DAY WILL INCLUDE:
- Develop, optimize, and maintain Python-based applications.
- Build and maintain RESTful APIs using Django.
- Work with Microsoft SQL Server, including query optimization and database interactions.
- Collaborate using Git/GitHub, following the Gitflow workflow.
- Troubleshoot and debug issues to ensure high performance and reliability.
- Manage time-series data to identify malfunctioning field components.
- Conduct data analysis to support proactive maintenance tracking and reporting.
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to software development best practices.
- Travel occasionally (10-20%) for team meetings, events, or client engagements.
WHAT YOU NEED:
- 3-6 years of Python development experience in a professional setting.
- Strong experience with Django for API development.
- Proficiency with Microsoft SQL Server, including query writing and optimization.
- Familiarity with Grafana or similar data visualization platforms.
- Experience with Git/GitHub and the Gitflow workflow.
- Strong understanding of software development best practices (CI/CD, testing, version control).
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment and collaborate with distributed teams.
- Comfortable with occasional travel.
WHAT WILL MAKE YOU STAND OUT:
