Your impact

As an AI Tutor, Law Specialist, you will help shape AI’s understanding of legal frameworks by reviewing complex legal materials. Your insights will guide AI models in accurately interpreting laws, legal reasoning, and ethical principles across jurisdictions. You’ll contribute to AI applications in legal education, compliance, and research.

This is a contract remote position with variable time commitments. The services to be provided by the Contractor under this agreement are supplementary and not integral to the Handshake’s primary business operations. The Contractor’s services are distinct and separate from the core business activities of Handshake.

Your role

• Provide structured feedback on AI interpretations of legal language.

• Analyze and annotate legal texts, case law, and contracts using internal tools.

• Evaluate legal scenarios and ensure correct application of doctrines.

• Contribute to refining models for legal comprehension and synthesis.

• Stay informed on evolving legal standards and frameworks.

Your experience

• JD from an accredited institution (or equivalent legal training).

• Deep familiarity with legal research and writing.

• Skilled in synthesizing statutes, regulations, and case law.

• Strong critical thinking and ethical reasoning.

• Passion for the intersection of law and technology.

Bonus areas of expertise

• Bar membership or legal practice experience.

• Legal tech or AI policy involvement.

• Experience teaching legal studies.

• Legal editorial or technical writing background.

Additional Requirements

• Availability to work evenings and weekends as needed.

• Ability to quickly adapt to new skills and evolving requirements.

• Personal device must support Windows 10 or macOS Big Sur 11.0 or later.

• Reliable access to a smartphone.

Location & Work Expectations

• Fully remote position.

• No visa sponsorship available.

• Not hiring in Wyoming or Illinois at this time.

Compensation range

• $55/hr - $115/hr

For cash compensation, we set standard ranges for all U.S.-based roles based on function, level, and geographic location, benchmarked against similar stage growth companies. In order to be compliant with local legislation, as well as to provide greater transparency to candidates, we share salary ranges on all job postings regardless of desired hiring location. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors, including geographic location as well as candidate experience and expertise, and may vary from the amounts listed above.
