Senior Fullstack Engineer

Hi! I’m Alexander, Head of Product Engineering at WeTravel. I'm on a mission to build a world-class engineering team: one that’s curious, collaborative, and obsessed with impact.

WeTravel is building the operating system for the multi-day travel industry, supporting group travel businesses with everything from publishing trips and accepting global payments to managing bookings and paying vendors. Whether it's a safari organizer in Kenya or a retreat host in Bali, our platform helps them streamline operations, save time, and grow their business.

From designing scalable, secure systems to building intuitive user experiences across web and mobile, our team tackles meaningful problems that directly impact how travel businesses operate and thrive.

We’re looking for a passionate Fullstack Engineer to join one of our cross-functional product teams. Whether you’re building new features, improving performance, or shaping how users interact with our platform, your work will directly help tour operators run their businesses more efficiently, and make it easier for millions of travelers to prepare for their unique experiences, pain-free.

You’ll join one of our cross-functional product teams, and collaborate on everything from discovery to delivery. Our teams are autonomous, agile, and deeply aligned with user and business outcomes, not just ship tickets.

We operate a modern service-oriented architecture and maintain a high bar for quality. As a senior member of the team, you’ll contribute not just code, but architectural thinking, code reviews, and technical mentorship. We move fast, but not at the expense of clean, well-tested code and thoughtful design.

• Own features end-to-end: from design, implementation, and testing to deployment, monitoring, and iteration. You build it, you run it.

• Design and build scalable, secure, and maintainable systems using React and Ruby in a modern microservice architecture.

• Collaborate with Product and Design to build user-centric features that solve real problems.

• Shape our long-term architecture and technical direction, contributing to key decisions that balance speed, scalability, and sustainability.

• Drive engineering excellence across testing, performance, accessibility, security, and observability.

• Mentor teammates and contribute to our engineering guilds, helping to elevate standards, share knowledge, and strengthen our culture of ownership.

• A passion for engineering, with a growth mindset and a proven drive to achieve ambitious goals in fast-paced, dynamic environments.

• 8+ years of production experience, with a focus on quality, performance, and long-term maintainability, including 3+ years of hands-on experience with React.

• 3+ years of experience building and scaling distributed systems, with strong backend skills in API design, relational and document-based databases, and microservice architectures.

• A product mindset: you care deeply about the user experience, ask the right questions, and think beyond the implementation details to deliver real value.

• Interest in AI: you’re excited about using AI tools to boost your own productivity, and curious about building AI-powered features that enhance user experiences in meaningful ways.

• Experience coaching engineers, setting coding standards, and building systems and guardrails that help teams scale efficiently and safely.

• Clear, direct communication skills, with a thoughtful, async-friendly style and a strong sense of ownership and accountability.

• Make real impact: you’ll help build the operating system for the multi-day group travel industry, empowering thousands of organizers and millions of travelers worldwide.

• Solve meaningful technical challenges at scale, from designing robust systems to improving real-time user experiences in a complex domain.
