Key Responsibilities • Manage the billing process by ensuring precise coding and compliance with healthcare regulations. • Utilize ICD-10, ICD-9, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems to accurately code medical diagnoses and procedures. • Review medical records to verify the accuracy and completeness of information necessary for billing claims. • Submit insurance claims correctly and timely to prevent delays in payment. • Conduct follow-ups on unpaid claims, ensuring they are processed efficiently or escalated as necessary. • Collaborate with healthcare providers, patients, and insurance companies to address billing inquiries. • Maintain organized and detailed records of all billing transactions and communications. • Stay updated on changes to coding practices, insurance policies, and regulations pertinent to medical billing. Required Skills • Certification as a Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS). • In-depth knowledge of medical coding guidelines and regulations (ICD-10, ICD-9, CPT, HCPCS). • Proficient experience with Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems. • Exceptional attention to detail coupled with strong problem-solving capabilities. • Effective verbal and written communication skills to interact with various stakeholders. • Ability to function both independently and collaboratively within a team.
