The State Level Attorney is responsible for ensuring client success at the litigation level including preparation for and through trial.Key Responsibilities:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Review and approve new claims within the Attorney's jurisdiction(s), meeting state-level goals for consistent case progression.
- Assist with management and supervision of jurisdictional inventory under the direction of the Managing Attorney or Regional Attorney, including exception and queue management.
- Conduct document review and discovery.
- Execute documents requiring Attorney signature.
- Communicate with the Managing Attorney, Regional Attorney, and clients to discuss case details.
- Assist in responding to litigation-specific components of client audits.
- Monitor and stay current on relevant legal rules, regulations, statutes, and case law.
- Conduct legal research and analysis of legal issues.
- Evaluate the probable outcomes of cases using knowledge of legal precedents.
- Prepare and file legal documents.
- Manage and resolve collection litigation matters.
- Engage with pro se litigants, opposing counsel, and other interested parties to facilitate settlement throughout the litigation process.
- Oversee and collaborate with outside collections and defense counsel.
- Support corporate compliance with laws and regulations governing debt collection and related activities.
- Perform all other duties as assigned by the Managing Attorney or Regional Attorney.
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an institution accredited by the American Bar Association (ABA).
- Licensed to practice law in applicable jurisdiction(s).
- Demonstrated case analysis ability with a proven track record of effective settlement negotiation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Skilled in internet-based and online legal research.
- Ability to operate standard office equipment such as copiers, printers, scanners, and computers.
- Strong oral and written communication skills with attention to grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
- Excellent time management and multitasking abilities.
- Strong organizational skills with keen attention to detail.
- Flexibility to adapt and respond promptly to urgent matters.
- Capacity to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds and varying levels of professional expertise.
