Autonomy Engineer, Remote Assist - Labs

DoorDash Labs is an independent team within DoorDash. We explore robotics and automation to transform last mile logistics in the long term. If you have a passion for applying robotics solutions in a service used by millions of people, then we want to talk to you! We’re hiring a C++ generalist in our autonomy remote assistance team. In this role, you’ll work with multiple stakeholders including Product, Engineering (software and hardware), and Operations to develop systems expanding the capabilities of our robot leveraging remote operators. You’ll be researching, designing and implementing systems as a core member of a tight knit group that values velocity, flexibility, creativity, and collegiality. • Develop new capabilities expanding our suite of remote assistance tools
• Work directly with users to brainstorm ways to increase operator efficiency
• Implement strategies to improve connectivity between robots and operators
• Evaluate new hardware including modems, antennas, and cameras
• Design management systems for a fleet of autonomous vehicles

We’re excited about you because you have…

• Experience in at least one of the following: computer networks, cellular networks, low latency video streaming, computer vision, game development, backend microservices
• In-depth knowledge of data structures, algorithms, linux networking stack, communication protocols, video codecs
• Strong C++ experience
• Degree in Computer Science, Robotics, or related technical field

Nice to have experience includes:

• Prior experience in the self-driving vehicle space

Compensation

The location-specific base salary range for this position is listed below. Compensation in other geographies may vary. Actual compensation within the pay range will be decided based on factors including, but not limited to, skills, prior relevant experience, and specific work location. For roles that are available to be filled remotely, base salary is localized according to employee work location. Please discuss your intended work location with your recruiter for more information.
