Responsibilities

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic researcher to fill a Postdoctoral Researcher position in Computational Solid Mechanics at the Florida A&M University-Florida State University College of Engineering (FAMU-FSU COE) in Tallahassee, Florida. The researcher will work on projects funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) aimed at developing novel computational techniques that leverage deep learning methods for solving problems in computational solid mechanics. Specifically, the successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing numerical algorithms that utilize deep learning techniques to solve nonlinear mechanics problems, with a particular emphasis on iterative solvers. Responsibilities: ? Develop and implement numerical algorithms that leverage deep learning techniques for solving nonlinear mechanics problems, with a focus on iterative solvers and Krylov subspace techniques. ? Conduct numerical simulations using state-of-the-art software tools for computational solid mechanics. ? Analyze and interpret simulation results and communicate findings through publications and presentations. ? Mentor graduate and undergraduate students. ? Publish research findings in high-quality journals and present research results at conferences and seminars. ? Collaborate with other researchers within the group and across different institutions. Qualifications ? PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Theoretical and Applied Mechanics, Aerospace Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or related fields. ? Strong background in computational mechanics and numerical methods. ? Experience in developing and implementing deep learning methods, deep knowledge of iterative solvers, and experience with Krylov subspace techniques. ? Proficiency in programming languages such as C/C++ and Python. ? Experience with TensorFlow and/or PyTorch library, as well as Scikit-Learn and Pandas for deep learning and data processing. ? Experience with finite element software packages such as ABAQUS. ? Excellent written and verbal communication skills. ? Ability to work independently as well as part of a team. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in computational mechanics, solid mechanics, and numerical methods. A PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Applied Mathematics or related fields is required. Experience in developing and implementing deep learning methods, deep knowledge of iterative solvers is highly desirable.
