Civil Construction - Superintendent

Wagner Construction is currently looking to add to your team on a confidential mission critical project that requires a high level of commitment to the project and it's team. The Superintendent is responsible for providing direct in-field supervision with the sub trades, earthwork and pipe crews working on all phases of construction, maintenance and repair operations and programs of Wagner Construction; all other related work as required. The Superintendent is responsible for maintaining and improving upon the efficiency and effectiveness of all areas under his/her direction and control. In this role the Superintendent will direct the sub trades and crews in the earthwork and installation of storm sewers, waste water lines, and water mains. Ability to travel is required. Primary Duties and Responsibilities: • Assessing job priorities and assigning employees to appropriate job tasks. • Recording a Daily Job Diary HCSS Heavy Job. • Understand required productions and meet the goal. • Keeping a set of as-built plans. • Submit timecards and trucking reports weekly. • Have signed Work Change Directive prior to completing any additional or changed work from the plans. • Making sure employees have tools and equipment needed for job in order to ensure safety and production. • Overseeing the work and making sure it runs smoothly and as per the project plan. • Giving clear directions to crews as to what needs to be done to avoid repetitive mistakes, or rework. • Making sure company rules are followed by crew. • Hold a daily Safety meeting and record in a log. • Acts as leader and supervisor for small crews engaged in road/highway construction, maintenance and repair projects, and other civil infrastructure projects. • In the absence of the Superintendent supervises operations, directing sub-contractors, and maintaining material inventory. • Ensures that all equipment is safe and ready for operation at all times, reports to Superintendent or Shop in the absence of the Superintendent on damage and non-functioning parts and equipment, ensures that normal servicing of equipment is performed properly and advises and assists as necessary the Field Service Technician. Operates motor vehicles and equipment necessary for completion of projects. • Performs labor incidental to the work of operating equipment, other laboring tasks when required. • Regular attendance and punctuality at the workplace is required. Job Qualifications: • 5+ years of pipe experience within the public works or heavy civil construction industry. • Experience reading blueprints. • Field supervision experience is required. • Possession of a valid driver’s license. Required Skills: • Considerable knowledge of the materials, methods and techniques relative to Utility, road/highway construction and maintenance. • Knowledge of field safety. • Ability to Identify additional work not identified in the plans and specs. • Ability to read engineering plans and blueprints. • Ability to communicate effectively verbally with the crew. • Flexibility: Ability to work in a number of diverse locations is pertinent, as work locations may change daily. • Expected Hours: Hours will vary by job, location and season. Working a night shift may be required. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: • Frequently performs physical activities that require considerable use of the arms and legs and moving the whole body, such as standing, lifting, walking, stooping, bending, reaching and handling of materials, equipment and tools. • Lifts, pushes, pulls, and carries heavy objects, machinery and tools. • Works around vehicles and machinery with moving parts. • Exposed to exhaust fumes, gasoline, and diesel fuel. • May be exposed to harsh weather conditions. • May be exposed to loud noise.
