SUMMARY: This position involves conducting individual and group tutoring to students in the Math Lab and assisting students in improving academic achievement by: • Identifying deficiencies and helping them overcome them. • Assisting students with instructor-assigned homework problems to reinforce understanding. • Guiding students in formulating ideas for becoming a stronger, more independent mathematics learner. • Participating in staff and professional development activities. MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL AND WORK REQUIREMENTS (MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS): High School Diploma or High School equivalency and completed College Algebra and/or Statistics with a grade of B or higher. PREFERRED Associate's Degree. Six (6) months directly related teaching/tutoring experience Wage rates for this position are as follows: $9/hour for High School Diploma or Equivalency $14/hour for Bachelor's Degree $16/hour for Master's DegreeDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The incumbent will: • Provide educational supplementation in mathematics including assistance with online learning platforms • Support students to develop and meet academic goals. • Provide tutoring that produces educational improvements. • Evaluate students to measure skill progression and determine improvement areas. • Attend all directed meetings, seminars, workshops, staff development trainings, etc.; overnight travel occasionally required. • Report to work regularly and on time. • Perform miscellaneous job related duties as assigned. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: KNOWLEDGE: • Knowledge of a variety of computer software applications. • Knowledge of the application of math principles. SKILLS: • Strong interpersonal, relationship building and conflict resolution skills. • Creative problem solving skills. • Excellent oral, written, analytical and technical skills. • Strong organizational and planning skills. ABILITIES: • Ability to determine priorities, be self-directed and work with minimal supervision. PHYSICAL EFFORT: May be required to sit or stand for long periods of time. May sit at a computer terminal for extended periods of time. Must be able to facilitate data entry and keyboard manipulation. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is normally performed in an office/computer lab setting. In addition to in-person tutoring, video conferencing tutoring will also be required. Work location will be split between EWCHEC Hutto and Taylor Campuses. WORK SCHEDULE: Schedule will vary due to departmental commitments. This is an on-site position. Essential duties of the role must be performed in-person, during prescribed work hours. HOURS REQUIRED PER WEEK: Varies, up to 19.5 hours per week.
