Injection Molding Engineer

DescriptionWork closely with the plant manufacturing team to determine equipment needs and develop equipment specifications based on those needs. In addition, this position will work with the manufacturing and finance teams to build capital expenditure projects that provide justification to purchase and install capital equipment aligning with the overall needs of the business. This individual will be responsible for providing the necessary project documentation and training to support the equipment installation and operation. Key ResponsibilitiesThe responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to: • Completes engineering projects by organizing and controlling project elements, including scope, planning, and execution. • Develops project scopes and deliverables by reviewing project proposals and plans and conferring with management. • Determines project responsibilities by identifying project phases and elements, assigning personnel to phases and elements, and reviewing bids from vendors. • Determines project specifications by studying product design, customer requirements, and performance standards. • Maintains project schedule by monitoring progress, coordinating activities, and resolving problems. • Prepares project status reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information; and recommending actions. • Collaborates with various teams within the organization to develop new equipment specifications. • Investigates and presents quote packages and monitors the project quoting process. • Provides necessary support for capital expenditure approval, including recommended vendor selection. • Oversees Project Budgeting & Equipment Purchases. • Performs equipment acceptance run-off and verifies equipment meets all of the requirements of the specification. • Develops standard work for production associates. • Ensures all necessary deliverables (drawing, spare parts lists, etc.) are provided to the various teams. • Oversees facility preparations and equipment installations. • Provides critical on-site support for equipment installation, including equipment troubleshooting and operator & maintenance training. • Works with maintenance team to develop equipment preventative maintenance schedules. Skills Knowledge and ExpertisePOSITION QUALIFICATIONS Skills and Abilities • Excellent interpersonal skills • Strong organizational, analytical & systematic problem-solving skills • Ability to communicate at all levels of the organization • Experience working in a plastic manufacturing environment • Self-motivated with a proven track record of bringing projects in on time and within an established budget • High level of technical understanding of plastic manufacturing methods and procedures • Excellent organizational and time management skills • Ability to develop a project scoping, planning, managing, executing, and delivering on time, on budget, and meeting the requirements of the customer • Familiarity and ability to comply with all applicable rules, regulations, best practices, and performance standards • Aptitude for working collaboratively with multiple disciplines within teams and projects • Proven success in the areas of project management and supervision Education and Experience • Bachelor's or Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering/Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Engineering/Engineering Technology, Plastic Manufacturing, or another related discipline • 2+ years of project management experience working in the plastic manufacturing industry. Computer Skills • Advanced: MS Office skills • Intermediate: CAD software (Solidworks and/or Creo) • Basic: Word processing/typing.
