Underwriting Intern (Evergreen)

About the position Horizon BCBS seeks a self-directed Business Analyst with a passion for technology, collaboration, and creative problem-solving for the Underwriting team. The intern will actively contribute to meaningful projects and work closely with a mentor and with senior leadership. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the healthcare industry while developing essential skills in data analysis and project management. The intern will be involved in various tasks that support the underwriting process and contribute to the overall efficiency of the team. The role involves reviewing and following up on data reporting for both internal and external sources, identifying and communicating business needs as necessary. The intern will assist in creating forecasting tools using current technology and systems such as Access and Excel. Participation in various internal and external project workgroups may be required, where the intern can recommend solutions based on data analysis to increase business efficiency. Additionally, the intern will support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for projects, implementations, system fixes, and enhancements. Preparing materials for internal and external activities is also part of the responsibilities, along with performing other relevant tasks as assigned by management that will support the sales team. Requirements • Requires High School Diploma. , • Pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Finance, Mathematics or related field. , • Excellent written and oral communication skills. , • Ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner. , • Strong PC skills including spreadsheets and word documents with demonstration of these skills other than personal life. , • Excellent organizational and project management skills. , • Self-motivated and self-starter with the ability to work in a team environment. , • Knowledge of Healthcare industry preferred. , • Strong Math Skills are required. , • Strong Computer Skills, Microsoft Office products to include (Access, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio, etc.). , • Team Player with Strong Analytical and Interpersonal Skills.
