About the role: As a Machine Learning Engineer, you will be integral to designing, developing, and implementing cutting-edge machine learning solutions to mitigate fraud and risk, ensuring optimal outcomes for both Sardine and our clients. Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, you will contribute to the development of robust machine-learning infrastructure and feature engineering capabilities. You will: • Design, develop, and implement machine learning models and algorithms, integrating them into the overall system. • Enhance backend systems for feature processing and model serving, optimizing efficiency and reliability. • Own strategic initiatives, translating high-level objectives into actionable machine-learning solutions. • Engage with large-scale data sets and data pipelines to extract meaningful insights. • Establish ML observability to ensure models perform reliably in production. • Build scalable machine learning infrastructure using tools like Vertex AI, Apache Beam, and Kubeflow. • Develop systems and libraries to streamline integration. • Conduct experiments and assess model performance to optimize outcomes. • Mentor junior team members, fostering a collaborative environment. • Collaborate with data scientists, software engineers, and product managers to identify challenges and enhance machine learning models. An ideal candidate has: • 7+ years of hands-on experience in Machine Learning or related roles. • Significant experience in Fraud, Risk, Compliance, Payments, or FinTech domains is essential. • Proven ability to work independently and take initiative in a fast-paced startup environment. • Proficiency in Python and SQL, with backend development experience. • A degree in computer science, machine learning, statistics, or a related field. • Strong problem-solving skills with a track record of delivering high-quality results. • Excellent communication skills to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. • Experience with data warehousing, ETL tools, and machine learning lifecycle management. • Familiarity with cloud platforms like GCP, AWS, Azure, Kubernetes, or Docker. • A proven track record of collaboration with data scientists to build, deploy, and refine models.
