About the position The Integrated Basic Education & Skills Training (I-BEST) Adjunct position at Olympic College is designed for skilled educators who are committed to teaching students from diverse educational, linguistic, and cultural backgrounds. This hybrid role involves team-teaching alongside professional technical instructors in various subjects, including Manufacturing, Nursing Assistant Certified, Computer Information Systems, and Business Technology. The primary focus is to support students in developing essential math and basic skills necessary for their academic and career advancement. Faculty members will be responsible for administering assessments, managing records in compliance with federal and state requirements, and collaborating with colleagues to develop courses and curricula that meet the needs of adult learners. In this role, adjunct faculty will engage in quality teaching, which includes preparing lessons, grading assignments, and providing syllabi to students. They will also be expected to consult with students to help them set and monitor their educational goals. The position requires attendance at quarterly meetings and may involve evening instruction. As part of the Workforce Development Division, the I-BEST faculty will contribute to the college's mission of fostering an inclusive and equitable learning environment, ensuring that all students receive the support they need to succeed in their educational pursuits. Responsibilities • Team-teach with professional-technical instructors in I-BEST classroom and laboratory settings. , • Administer Comprehensive Adult Student Assessment System (CASAS) Appraisal, Pre-tests, and Post-tests. , • Collect, submit, and analyze data for program reporting in Web-based Adult Basic Education Reporting System (WABERS). , • Collaborate with other instructors in developing courses and curricula. , • Manage record keeping complying with federal and state requirements. , • Consult with students and assist them in setting, documenting, and monitoring progress toward educational goals. , • Provide quality teaching, including preparation and grading of assignments. , • Provide class syllabi to students and the division office as requested. , • Maintain accurate records of students and complete required forms. , • Attend quarterly Basic Studies meetings and perform other related duties as assigned. Requirements • Bachelor's degree from an accredited College or University in adult/developmental education, TESOL, Applied Linguistics, or a closely related field. , • Two years of Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) experience teaching adults. , • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office Applications. Nice-to-haves • Master's degree from an accredited College or University in adult/developmental education, TESOL, Applied Linguistics. , • Two years of Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) teaching experience in a community college setting. , • Experience implementing Basic Skills requirements of the Washington State Board for Community and Technical Colleges.
