About the position The Weekend Dispatcher/Driver position is a part-time role that focuses on ensuring that all routes are filled as assigned and that bus operators receive timely instructions and responses to their requests for operational information throughout the day. This role is critical in maintaining safety and customer service as top priorities. The Dispatcher will also be responsible for responding to customer and team inquiries, making it essential for candidates to possess strong communication skills and a customer-oriented mindset. The working hours for this position are primarily on weekends, specifically Saturday and Sunday from approximately 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM, making it ideal for individuals seeking part-time work during these hours. In this role, the Dispatcher will oversee road service assigned to carriers by tracking trip performance measures, ensuring that routes begin on time, and managing incidents as they arise. The position requires the use of a computer system to retrieve scheduled information and reference materials to assist clients effectively. Additionally, the Dispatcher will provide customer support by addressing questions and concerns regarding customer trips, including no-shows, cancellations, and missed trips. Daily reports and clerical duties are also part of the responsibilities, along with answering and directing business calls to the appropriate personnel. The Dispatcher will manage emergency situations for vehicle operators, acting as a liaison between the carrier and emergency services. Proactive management of daily service by reviewing route performance and responding to situations that impact customer service is also a key responsibility. In some cases, the Dispatcher may need to drive a route as needed, adding to the dynamic nature of this position. Responsibilities • Responds to customer inquiries and needs in a timely manner, serving as the intake person for customer complaints and commendations. , • Oversees road service assigned carriers by tracking trip performance measures, ensuring routes begin on time, and managing incidents. , • Processes route openings, insertions, extensions, and issue resolutions. , • Uses computer systems to retrieve scheduled information and reference materials to assist clients effectively. , • Provides customer support by responding to questions and concerns regarding customer trips, including no-shows, cancellations, and missed trips. , • Completes a variety of daily reports and clerical duties. , • Answers and directs business calls to appropriate personnel. , • Manages emergency situations for vehicle operators, acting as a liaison between the carrier and emergency services. , • Manages daily service by reviewing route performance and proactively responding to situations that impact customer service. , • Must drive a route as needed. Requirements • Possess a Class B license with a passenger endorsement. , • Be vaccinated against COVID-19. , • Able to work a flexible schedule that includes weekends and holidays. , • 1 year of customer service, dispatch, or scheduling experience preferred. , • Excellent phone demeanor and customer service skills. , • Ability to work independently. , • Computer knowledge. , • Excellent verbal, interpersonal, judgment, and problem-solving abilities. Nice-to-haves • Transit or paratransit experience preferred.
