Senior Mobile Engineer (React Native)

Features ship weekly, your code goes live fast, and you see the impact immediately. ⌘ Role Overview We are looking for a Senior Mobile Engineer to join the App team and help build the next generation of the Timeleft experience. Our product is a React Native + Expo application running on iOS, Android, and Web, backed by a NestJS API. You will work alongside experienced mobile engineers and collaborate closely with product, design, QA, and backend teams. You'll own features end-to-end — from technical scoping through implementation, testing, and release — and contribute to the architecture and quality of a codebase serving users across 40+ cities worldwide. This is a high-impact role where your code ships weekly and directly affects how people connect. We are an AI-first engineering team that uses AI tools to accelerate delivery while maintaining strong engineering standards. You'll be expected to use AI coding tools as part of your daily workflow to work effectively with modern development tooling and workflows. ⌘ Key Responsibilities Feature Development Own features end-to-end: technical scoping, implementation, testing, and release Build performant, accessible UI components following the design system Leverage AI coding tools to accelerate development and maintain high code quality Ensure features are properly instrumented and observable post-release Comfortable debugging production issues using analytics, logs, and crash reporting tools Quality & Testing Contribute to automated testing and reusable component documentation Contribute to E2E test coverage and automated testing Comfortable working with feature flags, analytics, and experimentation workflows Architecture & Collaboration Contribute to architectural decisions and technical direction of the mobile codebase Review PRs thoroughly and provide constructive, actionable feedback Collaborate with product and design to refine requirements and propose better solutions Platform & Infrastructure Comfortable contributing to CI/CD, tooling, and platform-specific improvements when needed ⌘ Expected Outcomes Month 1: Onboarding & First Contributions Get familiar with the app's architecture, key flows, and team conventions Set up your development environment and AI-assisted workflow Deliver first small features and bug fixes to build confidence with the codebase Month 2: Independent Delivery Ship user-facing features with increasing independence Actively participate in PR reviews and contribute feedback Build working relationships with product, design, QA, and backend teams Month 3: Feature Ownership Own a feature end-to-end, from scoping to release Contribute to architectural discussions and propose improvements ⌘ Skills & Competencies Must have: Strong professional experience with React Native and TypeScript Cross-platform development experience (iOS, Android, Web) Strong understanding of state management, data fetching, and caching patterns Performance optimization and React component architecture best practices Experience with mobile release workflows and app store distribution Experience writing automated tests for mobile features Comfortable with RESTful APIs and Git workflows Strong debugging and monitoring skills Comfortable working with AI coding tools — or eager to make them a core part of your workflow Nice to have: Experience with prompt engineering or AI-assisted workflows beyond coding Experience with CI/CD pipelines Experience with real-time features (chat, live updates) Experience working on apps with international user base (multi-locale, timezone handling) Soft skills: Ownership mindset and strong communication skills Ability to balance speed with quality in a weekly release cadence Proactive about identifying problems and proposing solutions Eye for UI detail and ability to spot gaps in the UX flow Ability to scope work: break features into tasks, estimate complexity, and flag risks Comfortable iterating quickly on product ideas and adapting to evolving requirements ⌘ Required experience 4+ years of professional software engineering experience, with 2+ years building mobile applications in React Native Production apps shipped to App Store and Google Play Experience working in a cross-functional team (product, design, QA, backend) Experience or strong interest in working with AI coding tools (Cursor, Claude, Copilot, etc) Fluency in English ⌘ Recruitment Process Introduction interview (30 min): Talent Acquisition Lead, Maja. We'll talk about your experience, what you're looking for, and whether Timeleft feels like a good fit. Technical test (at home): You'll build a feature based on a mini PRD using our tech stack. We'll ask you to submit your code along with the full conversation history from your AI coding tools. Assignment review (1 hour): You'll walk through your build with Alejandra, our Team Lead. We'll discuss the trade-offs you made, how you used AI tools, and how you approached the problem. This is also where we get a sense of your ownership mindset, communication style, and how you collaborate. Final interview (30 min): You'll meet Misha, our Head of Engineering.
