[Remote] Senior Data Scientist

As a Senior Data Scientist, you will lead data product strategy, develop innovative data solutions, and mentor junior data scientists while collaborating with various teams to drive impactful initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Lead comprehensive analyses of shipping data to identify and prioritize high-value opportunities for new product features and strategic initiatives
  • Drive deep investigations into carrier performance, delivery optimization, cost reduction strategies, and user behavior patterns to shape product strategy
  • Design and execute sophisticated analytical frameworks to assess market opportunities, competitive positioning, and product-market fit
  • Own the end-to-end research process, from hypothesis generation to implementation roadmap, and effectively communicate strategic recommendations to leadership
  • Develop advanced machine learning prototypes and proof-of-concepts that validate new features and establish technical feasibility, such as intelligent routing algorithms, dynamic pricing models, or predictive analytics capabilities
  • Create well-documented, production-ready code and models that can be seamlessly handed off to engineering teams for scaling and deployment
  • Design A/B testing and other experimental frameworks by applying inferential statistical techniques to measure the impact of product changes
  • Interpret results with statistical rigor, ensuring confidence in findings
  • Provide recommendations based on insights, helping stakeholders make informed decisions on product optimizations and new initiatives
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior and mid-level data scientists, fostering their professional growth and analytical capabilities
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives that require coordination across Data Science, Engineering, Product, and Business teams
  • Contribute to the development of data science best practices, tools, and frameworks that enhance team productivity and impact
  • Champion data-driven culture and literacy across the organization through training, knowledge sharing, and stakeholder engagement
  • Communicate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences, adapting your message for both technical and executive stakeholders
  • Drive alignment across multiple teams and departments on analytical approaches, success metrics, and strategic priorities
  • Represent the data science team in strategic planning sessions and contribute to company-wide initiatives and objectives

Skills

  • 6+ years of experience in data science, analytics, or related roles with demonstrated progression of responsibility and impact
  • Master's degree or PhD in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, or related quantitative field preferred. A bachelor's degree with exceptional experience will be considered
  • Advanced proficiency in Python for data analysis, machine learning, and statistical modeling
  • Strong proficiency in SQL for querying and manipulating large datasets
  • Demonstrated experience translating ambiguous business challenges into structured analytical frameworks and actionable solutions
  • Track record translating analysis into shipped product development, operational workflows, or data science initiatives
  • Strategic thinking and ability to balance short-term deliverables with long-term vision
  • Practical application of data wrangling, data cleaning, and exploratory data analysis (EDA)
  • Understanding of statistical methods and machine learning techniques to extract deeper insights from data
  • Willingness to take on a wide range of tasks, big or small, stepping in wherever needed drive business success
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Excellent communication skills—able to present findings to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Experience with Databricks and lakehouse patterns (e.g., Spark, MLflow)
  • Experience in shipping logistics or carrier operations
  • Experience setting team-wide standards (metrics governance, experimentation playbooks, model readiness criteria)
