[Remote] Estate Planning & Trust Administration Subject Matter Expert

Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. FP Alpha is seeking an experienced estate planning and trust administration expert to serve as a strategic consultant and subject matter expert to their product team. The role involves reviewing and advising on trust and estate tax modeling, collaborating with the product team, and translating complex estate planning concepts into clear guidance for product decisions and user experience.

Responsibilities

• Review and advise on trust and estate tax modeling within the FP Alpha platform, including calculations derived from trust documents across a range of revocable and irrevocable structures
• Work collaboratively with the product team to identify gaps, recommend improvements, and validate outputs against real-world scenarios
• Translate complex estate planning concepts into clear, advisor-friendly guidance that informs both product decisions and user experience
• Learn and engage with the FP Alpha platform directly to provide grounded, specific feedback on calculator logic and workflow
• Incorporate feedback from additional SMEs and help reconcile differing expert perspectives

Skills

• Hands-on experience with trust and estate administration across a wide range of structures, including revocable A/B and A/B/C trusts, ILITs, GRATs/GRUTs, rolling GRATs, CRTs, QPRTs, and other irrevocable vehicles
• Ability to calculate and interpret estate tax liability based on trust documents and funding scenarios
• Comfortable learning new software quickly; prior experience with estate planning platforms is a plus
• Consultative communicator — able to explain complex concepts clearly to non-specialists and advocate for changes with supporting rationale
• Independent, critical thinker who can identify modeling flaws and propose solutions
• Daily availability (Mon - Fri) and at least 15 hours per week
• Experience building or maintaining Excel models, including multi-tab workbooks, nested formulas, and structured data references
