The role involves creating and publishing engaging content across various social media platforms, producing video content, and interacting with audiences to enhance engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Package and publish content for California Post social media accounts across Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, X, Threads, and more
  • Create short-form vertical videos, memes, graphics, and other engagement-focused posts
  • Film, edit, and produce video content from live events, interviews, and in-house programming for social distribution, ensuring alignment with platform-specific best practices
  • Pitch and execute timely, newsworthy, and trending content ideas
  • Engage with audiences across California Post social channels, including moderating comments and facilitating meaningful interactions

Skills

  • At least three years of professional experience managing social media for a news organization
  • Proven experience in multimedia content creation and social publishing across digital platforms
  • Proficiency in video and photo editing tools such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, Photoshop, and Canva, supported by a strong creative portfolio
  • Strong editorial judgment with excellent writing and copy-editing skills
  • Current knowledge of social media trends, best practices, and emerging platforms, with the agility to adapt strategies to drive engagement
  • Hands-on experience managing large social media accounts with measurable success in audience growth and engagement
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced newsroom, with strong multitasking and prioritization skills under tight deadlines
  • A passion for news, culture, and storytelling, with the creativity to translate those interests into compelling social content
