[Remote] Director of Accounting

RSP Group is a large, privately held construction and engineering organization seeking a Director of Accounting to provide strategic financial leadership across a complex, multi-entity business structure. The role involves overseeing corporate accounting operations, financial reporting, compliance, and accounting strategy while partnering closely with executive leadership to modernize processes and drive operational excellence.

Responsibilities

• Lead corporate accounting operations across multiple legal entities, subsidiaries, and business units
• Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance
• Direct preparation and review of consolidated financial statements and supporting schedules
• Ensure compliance with US GAAP and applicable regulatory requirements
• Establish and maintain effective internal controls, accounting policies, and financial governance frameworks
• Partner with executive leadership to support strategic business initiatives, acquisitions, growth initiatives, and organizational expansion
• Lead external audit relationships and coordinate all audit activities
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on automation, process optimization, and financial systems enhancements
• Evaluate and implement technologies that improve reporting accuracy, operational efficiency, and scalability
• Collaborate with FP&A, Treasury, Tax, Risk Management, and operational business leaders to support enterprise-wide objectives
• Develop and mentor a high-performing accounting team while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
• Support integration of acquired businesses and standardization of accounting processes across the organization
• Provide financial leadership and guidance on complex accounting matters and business transactions

Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation
• 12+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience
• Prior public accounting experience with a nationally recognized accounting firm
• Experience leading accounting functions within a large, complex organization
• Strong understanding of US GAAP, financial reporting, consolidations, and internal controls
• Demonstrated experience managing teams and developing finance professionals
• Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills
• Proven ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment
• Big Four public accounting background
• Experience within construction, engineering, real estate development, infrastructure, or project-based industries
• Experience overseeing accounting across multiple subsidiaries and legal entities
• Exposure to ERP implementations, finance transformation initiatives, and process automation projects
• Experience supporting mergers, acquisitions, or business integrations
• Strong understanding of emerging finance technologies, data analytics, and reporting tools
