The Senior Systems Operations Engineer plays an important role in supporting enterprise-scale database and middleware operations across a complex, multi-platform environment. This role focuses on maintaining the reliability, security, and operational readiness of database and middleware infrastructure supporting business-critical applications. The position combines hands-on systems operations with exposure to reliability engineering practices, contributing to operational excellence, automation, and platform stability. The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to support platform reliability, scalability, and security—including but not limited to patching, vulnerability remediation, system stability, and automation initiatives.   • Lead or participate in managing systems and infrastructure within Database and Middleware Operations area
  • Drive adoption of automation tools and practices (e.g., Ansible, orchestration tools)
  • Reduce manual effort by: Automating repeatable operational tasks; Streamlining patching and remediation workflows
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce operational overhead
  • Review and analyze operational systems, application software and management tools to ensure effective supportability
  • Identify and address gaps in system health, patch coverage, and operational processes
  • Partner with application and infrastructure teams to align deployment and maintenance activities
  • Apply reliability principles to improve system resilience and operational predictability
  • Enhance monitoring and observability to detect and prevent issues earlier
  • Contribute to defining and tracking service health metrics (SLIs/SLOs where applicable)
  • Participate in post-incident reviews and drive follow-up improvements
  • Lead or contribute to technical deliverables aligned with established standards and controls
  • Develop and maintain runbooks, playbooks, and standard operating procedures
  • Continuously improve processes with a focus on prevention, stability, and consistency

Required Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of Systems Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting large-scale enterprise environments with high availability and uptime requirements
  • Understanding databases and middleware platforms (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, MongoDB, WebLogic, WebSphere, Tomcat, messaging systems)
  • Experience executing or supporting enterprise patching cycles and vulnerability remediation programs
  • Familiarity with automation and orchestration tools (e.g., Ansible or similar platforms) to improve operational efficiency
  • Experience working with ITSM processes and tools (e.g., ServiceNow), including change, incident, and problem management
  • Service health metrics (SLIs/SLOs)
  • Observability (monitoring, logging, alerting)
  • Post-incident reviews and continuous improvement
  • Experience improving operational efficiency by reducing manual processes and operational toil
  • Understanding of infrastructure reliability, performance, and capacity management
  • Experience working in cross-functional environments with application, platform, and infrastructure teams
  • Knowledge of high availability and disaster recovery (HA/DR) architectures
  • Experience in regulated environments (financial services, healthcare, etc.) where security and compliance are critical
  • Experience with pulling data with SQL, building Power BI dashboards, automate reporting pipelines, and translate operational metrics (like patching, inventory, and risk) into executive-ready insights
  • Ability to produce a copy of military orders including applicant

#HHHProgram Pay Range Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to demonstrated examples of prior performance, skills, experience, or work location. Employees may also be eligible for incentive opportunities. $41.83 - $74.04
