Position Overview
We are seeking an enthusiastic, detail‑oriented Remote Customer Support & Operations Training Systems Specialist to join our Remote Customer Experience Services (RCES) team. This entry‑level role is perfect for candidates who thrive in fast‑paced environments, love solving technical puzzles, and are eager to support both internal teams and external customers. While a bachelor’s degree is traditionally preferred, we welcome applicants with relevant experience, certifications, or a proven track record of self‑directed learning.
Key Responsibilities
As a core member of the RCES group, you will be responsible for a blend of customer support, system administration, and operational training duties. Your day‑to‑day activities will include:
- SCADA System Management: Own the design, configuration, and continuous improvement of SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) equipment and software platforms.
- Information Accessibility: Develop and maintain secure, real‑time data portals that provide end‑users with reliable access to operational metrics.
- Cybersecurity Oversight: Implement and enforce security protocols for industrial control systems (ICS), leveraging tools such as OpenVPN, VLAN segmentation, and certificate‑based authentication.
- Web & Virtual Services: Build and sustain web‑based and virtual services that support remote monitoring, reporting, and troubleshooting.
- Functional Support: Partner closely with the Tasks and Support teams to address urgent requests, resolve incidents, and ensure seamless service delivery.
- Documentation & Change Management: Produce clear, detailed documentation for system changes, standard operating procedures, and compliance audits.
- Customer Interaction: Deliver exceptional remote support to internal stakeholders and external partners, translating technical concepts into understandable language.
- Field Collaboration: Occasionally travel to on‑site locations to assist with hardware installations, network configurations, and field troubleshooting.
Essential Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you should demonstrate the following core competencies:
- Minimum three (3) years of hands‑on experience with SCADA systems or closely related industrial automation technologies.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a focus on delivering courteous, solution‑oriented customer service.
- Proficiency in network fundamentals (TCP/IP, VLANs, routing) and hands‑on experience configuring switches, routers, and firewalls.
- Solid understanding of building automation systems, including chilled water, boiler, compressed air, HVAC, and lighting controls.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues independently and propose actionable solutions.
- Flexibility to work outside standard business hours when critical incidents arise, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
- Willingness to work in varied environments, from a home office to field sites with differing conditions.
Preferred Skills & Experience
While not mandatory, the following experience will set you apart from other candidates:
- Hands‑on experience with Transporter I‑Vu Building Automation platforms.
- Programming expertise for building automation (e.g., scripting in Python, C#, or ladder logic) and GUI development for operator interfaces.
- Familiarity with open‑protocol standards such as BACnet and Modbus.
- Experience working with utility SCADA architectures, PLCs, and advanced control logic.
- Exposure to broad‑scale control systems integration across multi‑site utility networks.
Education & Certifications
A bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline is preferred. However, we recognize that real‑world experience, industry certifications (e.g., ISA/IEC 62443, CompTIA Network+, Cisco CCNA), or a strong portfolio of relevant projects can be equally valuable.
