Our mission is to transform raw health data into clear, trustworthy insights that drive better patient outcomes, accelerate drug development, and shape the future of healthcare delivery. With a collaborative, technology‑first culture, arenaflex blends cutting‑edge analytics, rigorous scientific methodology, and a deep commitment to data integrity. Join a team that values curiosity, impact, and continuous learning.

Role Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated Remote Real‑World Evidence Data Scientist to join our Clinical Insights team. In this role, you will design, execute, and interpret robust data analyses that generate certifiable evidence from real‑world data (RWD) sources. Reporting directly to the Chief of Clinical Data Science, you will partner with cross‑functional stakeholders—including epidemiologists, health economists, and biopharma collaborators—to answer critical business questions, support regulatory submissions, and inform strategic decision‑making. This is a full‑time, remote position based in Orlando, USA, offering a competitive rate of $26 per hour.

Key Responsibilities

  • Data Extraction & Normalization: Mine raw data sets from internal databases and external platforms, transform them into analysis‑ready patient cohorts, and ensure consistent, high‑quality data structures.
  • Collaborative Insight Generation: Work closely with clinical research scientists, health economists, and external biopharma partners to translate real‑world observations into actionable insights for drug efficacy, safety, and cost‑effectiveness studies.
  • Data Lake Management: Clean, curate, and store data in a centralized data lake, enabling seamless access for downstream analytics and cross‑team initiatives.
  • Statistical & Machine Learning Analyses: Conduct descriptive, predictive, and causal analyses using techniques such as regression modeling, propensity score matching, survival analysis, Bayesian methods, and unsupervised learning.
  • Methodology Development: Design reproducible analytical pipelines that meet regulatory standards for RWE generation, ensuring transparency and auditability.
  • Dashboard & Reporting Creation: Build interactive visualizations and executive‑level reports using Power BI, Tableau, Spotfire, or Alteryx to communicate findings to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Quality Assurance & Validation: Perform rigorous data quality assessments, validate external data sources, and document all analytical decisions to support regulatory submissions and internal governance.
  • Project Planning & Execution: Contribute to the design, timeline, and delivery of research projects, coordinating with project managers to meet milestones and deliverables.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance data pipelines, analytical methods, and platform capabilities, driving efficiency and innovation across the RWE function.

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g., Statistics, Biostatistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Epidemiology, or related field).
  • Demonstrated experience designing and executing robust observational studies using real‑world health data.
  • Proficiency with statistical analysis tools and languages such as R, Python, SAS, or Stata.
  • Hands‑on experience handling large, multi‑source data sets, including claims, EMR, and registry data.
  • Strong knowledge of standard statistical methods: regression, clustering, decision trees, time‑series analysis, and survival analysis.
  • Familiarity with at least one business intelligence platform (Power BI, Alteryx, Spotfire, Tableau, etc.) for data visualization and reporting.
  • Understanding of data privacy regulations and experience working with protected health information (PHI) in compliance with HIPAA.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex analytical concepts into clear business narratives.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (PhD, Master’s) in Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Health Economics, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
  • Experience with electronic medical record (EMR) systems, health‑IT standards, and clinical data vocabularies (ICD‑9/10, SNOMED CT, Read Codes).
  • Background in Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and familiarity with regulatory frameworks such as ISO, MDD/MDR, or CFR for evidence generation.
  • Hands‑on experience with advanced analytics techniques, including Bayesian modeling, causal inference, and machine‑learning pipelines.
  • Exposure to data‑driven drug development projects, especially in therapeutic areas like oncology, rare diseases, or chronic conditions.
  • Proven track record of publishing or presenting RWE findings in scientific forums or industry conferences.
  • Ability to work autonomously in a remote setting while maintaining strong collaboration with distributed teams.

Core Skills & Competencies

  • Analytical Rigor: Ability to design reproducible, statistically sound analyses that withstand peer review and regulatory scrutiny.
  • Technical Proficiency: Mastery of data manipulation (SQL, pandas), statistical programming, and visualization tools.
  • Domain Knowledge: Familiarity with clinical research processes, health‑economics concepts, and the lifecycle of drug development.
  • Problem‑Solving Mindset: Proactive approach to identifying data gaps, proposing methodological solutions, and iterating on analyses.
  • Communication Excellence: Ability to craft compelling narratives, produce clear documentation, and present findings to senior leadership and external partners.
  • Collaboration & Influence: Strong interpersonal skills to partner with scientists, clinicians, and business stakeholders across geographies.
  • Ethical Stewardship: Commitment to data privacy, security, and ethical use of patient information.
