Key Responsibilities: As a Senior Part-Time Accountant (Job Share), you will be responsible for:

  • Preparing and monitoring revenue budgets and final accounts for a range of services, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Providing expert financial guidance and advice to officers across the council, fostering strong relationships and effective communication.
  • Assisting with procurement activities, including tendering and contract management, to ensure best value and compliance.
  • Collaborating with colleagues to identify areas for improvement and implement process enhancements.
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Analyzing financial data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Contributing to the development of financial policies and procedures.

Essential and Preferred Qualifications: We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced accountant with:

  • Essential:
  • CIPFA qualification (or other CCAB).
  • Significant experience in a similar role, preferably in the public sector.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in financial software and systems.
  • Preferred:
  • Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.
  • Knowledge of procurement and contract management principles.
  • Familiarity with hybrid working arrangements and remote work.
