Part‑Time Remote Data Entry Clerk – Demographic & Household Record Management for Community Housing Programs

Remote role Full-time Open position

About arenaflex

arenaflex is a purpose‑driven nonprofit organization dedicated to creating, preserving, and managing affordable housing across the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. Our mission is to blend high‑quality residential options with supportive services that empower low‑ and moderate‑income families, individuals, and seniors to thrive in safe, vibrant communities. With a legacy of collaborative partnerships, innovative program design, and a steadfast commitment to social equity, arenaflex stands at the forefront of community development, delivering lasting impact through thoughtful stewardship of both property and people.

Why This Role Matters

Accurate, up‑to‑date resident information is the lifeblood of arenaflex’s ability to allocate resources, track program outcomes, and comply with funding requirements. As a Data Entry Clerk, you will be the guardian of that data, ensuring that every demographic detail and household indicator is captured with precision. Your work will directly support the organization’s capacity to deliver essential services, secure funding, and demonstrate measurable success to stakeholders and community partners.

Role Overview

This is a part‑time, remote position requiring approximately 15 hours per month. The role is structured around a condensed one‑week work window every 30 days, allowing you to choose the days that best fit your schedule while still meeting the organization’s reporting cadence. You will receive in‑person training at arenaflex’s main office, after which you will work independently from your home office, using a provided computer and secure network connection.

Key Responsibilities

  • Extract and run reports from arenaflex’s Property Management system (RealPage) to identify resident changes.
  • Organize, clean, and manage Excel spreadsheets that contain raw data extracts.
  • Update former resident and household records in the arenaflex resident services database (Apricot) with new demographic information.
  • Enter and import current resident records, ensuring 25‑30 data points per participant are accurately captured.
  • Maintain three key indicators per participant that are used for program eligibility and outcome tracking.
  • Act as a diligent data steward: protect data privacy, enforce security protocols, and guarantee data integrity.
  • Collaborate with the Data Management Team to resolve discrepancies and answer data‑related inquiries.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned, such as generating summary reports for senior staff.

Essential Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred; relevant work experience may substitute for formal education.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with Excel—opening, closing, formatting, sorting, and navigating spreadsheets.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy in data entry tasks.
  • Organizational skills that enable you to manage multiple data sets and meet deadlines.
  • Basic computer literacy and comfort using web‑based applications.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive resident information responsibly.

Preferred Qualifications & Experience

  • Prior data entry or administrative experience in a nonprofit, housing, or social services environment.
  • Familiarity with Apricot, RealPage, or similar property management and case management platforms.
  • Experience creating or interpreting data reports for program evaluation.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new software quickly during a short training period.

Core Skills & Competencies

  • Analytical mindset: Ability to spot inconsistencies, trends, and errors in large data sets.
  • Communication: Clear written communication for documenting data changes and reporting issues.
  • Time management: Efficiently complete tasks within the designated one‑week window each month.
  • Integrity: Uphold the highest standards of data privacy and ethical handling of resident information.
  • Adaptability: Comfortable working remotely, adjusting to evolving data needs, and embracing new tools.

Physical & Work Environment Requirements

  • Ability to remain seated or standing for extended periods while working on a computer.
  • Occasional light lifting (up to 10 lb) of equipment such as a laptop or external hard drive.
  • Frequent use of hands, fingers, and wrists for typing, mouse navigation, and filing.
  • Regular viewing of computer monitors for more than half of the work time.
  • Travel to arenaflex’s main office for a one‑day, in‑person training session (located at 2311 Huntington Avenue, Alexandria, VA 22303).

Work Schedule & Remote Flexibility

The position is designed for flexibility. You will complete the 15 hours of work during a single week each month, with roughly 30 days between work periods. This schedule allows you to align the work with personal commitments while still delivering timely updates to the resident services database. All required tools—including a laptop, secure VPN access, and software licenses—are provided by arenaflex.

Compensation, Perks & Benefits

arenaflex offers a competitive hourly rate commensurate with experience. In addition to base pay, part‑time staff may receive:

  • Eligibility to participate in arenaflex’s 403(b) retirement plan with employer matching contributions.
  • Access to an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) that provides confidential counseling, wellness resources, and financial guidance.
  • Opportunities for professional development, including webinars on data management, nonprofit compliance, and affordable‑housing trends.
  • Flexible remote work arrangements and a supportive, mission‑driven team culture.

Career Growth & Learning Opportunities

While the role is part‑time, arenaflex encourages continuous learning. Successful clerks often transition to full‑time data analyst, program coordinator, or administrative positions within the organization. You will gain exposure to:

  • Advanced data‑analysis techniques using Excel, Power Query, and basic SQL.
  • Understanding of affordable‑housing funding streams and compliance reporting.
  • Collaboration with cross‑functional teams, including property management, resident services, and finance.
  • Mentorship from senior staff who can guide you toward certifications such as Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) or nonprofit administration credentials.
