[Remote] Senior Sales Engineer - Security Specialist
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Ribbon Communications is seeking a Senior Sales Engineer with expertise in Security Operations for telecommunications networks. This customer-facing role involves providing technical leadership during sales engagements and aligning Ribbon solutions with customer security requirements.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a SecOps SME for telecom who can credibly participate with customers in modern application security and vulnerability management conversations
- Provide technical support to the various account teams to ensure that the best and most appropriate Ribbon solution is selected
- Support RFP/RFI responses with emphasis on security capabilities and compliance alignment
- Translate customer security and compliance requirements into actionable technical architectures and solutions
- Support sales presentations and technical discussions with a focus on security positioning and differentiation
- Interface with customers, Ribbon engineering, and Product Line Management to address security requirements, gaps, and feature needs
- Interface with customers and Ribbon engineering as issues arise, monitor bug fixes and track feature development in code releases and help ensure that the relationship between Ribbon and the assigned account is strong
- Provide guidance on secure deployment models, including authentication, access control, encryption, CVE (Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures) mitigation, and security patching
- Monitor issues, track feature development, and ensure alignment between customer requirements and product capabilities
- Act as a trusted advisor within target accounts, offering SME guidance on telecom security and Ribbon solutions
Skills
- 8+ years' experience working with software vulnerabilities and exposure management, including CVE processes and security advisory use
- Experience evaluating, interpreting, and communicating CVE impact across customer software versions and architectures
- Working knowledge of vulnerability assessment and remediation, including patch management strategies, risk prioritization by exploitability and exposure, and customer communication on mitigation strategies
- Familiarity with security advisory workflows, including disclosure, triage, mitigation, and customer notification
- Working knowledge of security scanning and assessment tools and how findings map to CVEs and remediation
- Ability to discuss secure software lifecycle practices, including vulnerability disclosure processes, patch release cadence, and dependency and third-party risk management
- Experience supporting security reviews, audits, and onboarding, including vulnerability and patching inquiries
- 8+ years working with VoIP standards, applications, and practices
- Working knowledge of authentication and access technologies (RADIUS, SAML, MFA) in telecom environments
- Strong understanding of IP networking, routing, MPLS, Ethernet, and cloud-native networking
- Experience with NFV, OpenStack, containers/Kubernetes, and public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Familiarity with telecom protocols including SIP, RTP, Diameter, H.248, SIP over TLS, and DTLS
- Experience in telecom environments supporting Tier 1 service providers
- Proven ability to build strong customer and partner relationships at all levels
- Strong consultative, solution-selling approach
- Ability to communicate complex technical and security concepts to technical and executive audiences
- Proactive in driving technical engagements and resolving issues through completion
- Results-oriented, self-motivated, with strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong business acumen and technical depth
