You’ll assist in developing construction packages, preparing engineering calculations, and supporting material, cost, and construction estimates. You’ll work closely with senior engineers, project teams, clients, and permitting agencies while learning utility standards, design tools, and project workflows. This intermediate-level position is ideal for someone with a solid technical foundation, curiosity, and a desire to learn. You’ll be supported through structured training and hands-on experience as you grow into increasingly complex project responsibilities.

Responsibilities

Complete engineering design and documentation of distribution system projects. Apply client, industry, and regulatory standards to project designs with guidance from Senior Engineers. Help prepare construction plans, permit requirements, design sketches, cost estimates, material lists, and construction support using established CSA and client standards. Participate in field reviews and travel to site to gather site information to support design decisions. Perform simple engineering checks related to constructability, loading, and basic system impacts. Collaborate with team members, clients, and 3rd party stakeholders to support project progress and communication. Maintain organized project documentation and assist with estimating, scheduling, billing, invoicing, and quality reviews. Use Microsoft Office for project organization and daily communication. Utilize design tools and project software such as Pole Foreman, Spida-Calc, PLS-CADD, CYME, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, GIS Software (ARC, DAD, EO, DM), SAP, Passport, Maximo, DDS, or similar software. Produce accurate design packages, meeting project timelines, budgets, and expectations.

Intermediate experience with technical tools and project software (i.e. Distribution Design Studio, Pole Foreman, Spida-Calc, GIS Applications, material management solutions, AutoCAD, Bluebeam). Canadian utility experience strongly preferred (co-op or similar experience). Enthusiasm for structured training, mentorship, and growing technical responsibility over time. #LI-BL1 Benefits & Compensation Qualus benefits offered include Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short and Long-Term Disability, 401(k) match, Flexible Spending Accounts, EAP, Parental Leave, Paid time off, and Holidays, for those who qualify.
