We are currently looking for candidates located within 60 miles of any of the listed hubs to foster more in-person connections while maintaining our flexible remote culture. About This Role As part of Intersect's Accounting team, you'll help ensure the accuracy, integrity, and scalability of our financial operations during a period of continued growth. This role combines operational accounting leadership with deep technical accounting expertise, serving as a key partner across Finance, Legal, People Operations, and business teams to support informed decision-making and compliant financial reporting. You'll lead and develop a team responsible for accounting operations across Intersect's energy portfolio while serving as a trusted advisor on complex accounting matters. Success in this role means strengthening accounting processes, driving operational excellence, maintaining compliance with U.S. GAAP, and helping the organization scale efficiently as we continue advancing our mission. Team Overview This team plays a critical role in advancing Intersect's mission to accelerate the clean energy transition by ensuring financial accuracy, operational excellence, and strong governance across our growing portfolio. The Accounting team partners closely with Finance, Development, Asset Management, Legal, and Executive Leadership to provide timely reporting, support strategic business decisions, and maintain the integrity of our financial information. What You'll Do

Operational Accounting Leadership Lead the operational accounting team responsible for accounting activities across Intersect's energy portfolio. Mentor, develop, and support team members through coaching, training, performance management, and career development. Foster a collaborative, high-performing team culture focused on accountability, continuous improvement, and professional growth. Manage evolving priorities and support special projects that contribute to organizational objectives. Drive Financial Excellence Oversee general ledger activities to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of financial information. Partner across functions to support organizational goals and improve financial transparency. Consolidate and optimize month-end close processes to enable faster, more accurate reporting. Perform and support internal control activities to strengthen financial reporting and compliance. Enhance Processes and Systems Evaluate accounting processes, workflows, and systems to identify opportunities for improvement. Leverage technology, automation, and process enhancements to increase efficiency and reduce risk. Monitor operational effectiveness and implement scalable solutions that support company growth. Help establish and maintain best practices across accounting operations. Provide Technical Accounting Expertise Serve as a subject matter expert on U.S. GAAP and emerging accounting standards. Research, analyze, and document technical accounting conclusions for complex and non-routine transactions. Support accounting matters related to revenue recognition, stock-based compensation, leases, consolidations, impairment assessments, debt transactions, and other corporate accounting topics. Monitor proposed accounting guidance and disclosure requirements and assess impacts on the business. Support Compliance and External Reporting Maintain and enhance accounting policies and procedures to support effective internal controls over financial reporting. Assist with annual audit activities and serve as a key partner to external auditors. Prepare technical accounting memoranda and supporting documentation to ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards. Help drive consistent application of accounting policies across the organization. What You'll Bring Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. 5–7+ years of accounting experience, including at least 3 years in Big Four public accounting audit. Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, technical accounting research, and financial reporting requirements. Experience supporting SOX compliance and internal control environments. Proven ability to evaluate complex accounting issues, develop recommendations, and document conclusions effectively. Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate across teams. Proficiency with Google Workspace and intermediate Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, and SUMIF functions.

Preferred Qualifications

CPA and/or Master's degree in Accounting. Experience with Sage Intacct. Experience in the energy, infrastructure, or power generation industry. Demonstrated ability to apply technical accounting guidance to complex business transactions. Collaborative, detail-oriented, and adaptable approach to problem solving.
