Position Overview – Senior Manager, Self‑Service Engineering (Customer Support Focus)

Key Responsibilities

  • End‑to‑End Product Ownership: Manage the lifecycle of self‑service applications from concept through retirement, ensuring they meet performance, security, and scalability standards.
  • Team Leadership & Coaching: Lead, mentor, and inspire a cross‑functional team of Lead Engineers, Senior Developers, and Technical Leads, fostering a collaborative environment that values continuous learning.
  • Culture of Engineering Excellence: Build and nurture a culture that prioritizes high‑quality code, automated testing, and peer‑review processes to deliver reliable, customer‑centric solutions.

  • Technology Roadmap Development: Define and maintain a technology roadmap that balances innovation with operational stability, focusing on security, reliability, and flexibility.
  • Architecture & Design: Design scalable system architectures, integration patterns, and data models that support rapid feature delivery while adhering to industry best practices.
  • Financial Stewardship: Create and manage budgets for your domain, tracking spend against forecasts and ensuring cost‑effective use of resources.
  • Operational Excellence: Serve as the escalation point for production incidents, driving root‑cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Compliance & Governance: Ensure all development activities comply with FAA, OSHA, GDPR, and arenaflex internal policies, including safety and data protection standards.
  • Cross‑Team Coordination: Work with other Engineering Managers to align on shared services, reduce duplication, and drive organization‑wide efficiencies.
  • Talent Development: Identify skill gaps, create development plans, and champion learning opportunities such as certifications, workshops, and hackathons.
  • Additional Duties: Perform any other tasks assigned by senior leadership that support arenaflex’s strategic objectives.

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related discipline (or equivalent practical experience).
  • Demonstrated experience with Java, AngularJS, and Node.js—either through internships, academic projects, or personal coding initiatives.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and distributed computing concepts.
  • Ability to travel up to 35% domestically for on‑site collaboration, training, and occasional field support.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship; a clean travel record and ability to pass a pre‑employment drug screening.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including on‑call rotations for incident response.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with an aptitude for presenting technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.
