[Remote] Lead System Design and Analysis Engineer
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Hadron Energy, Inc. specializes in Micro Modular Reactor development and is seeking a Lead System Design and Analysis Engineer. This role involves leading the design and analysis of reactor fluid systems, defining system architecture, and coordinating multidisciplinary engineering activities to support the development of advanced clean nuclear energy technology.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design, definition, and analysis of reactor fluid systems and primary plant systems
- Establish system requirements, design criteria, operating parameters, and functional specifications for reactor systems
- Develop and maintain system design descriptions, system flow diagrams, P&IDs, and interface control documents
- Perform and oversee system-level thermal-hydraulic, fluid flow, pressure loss, and performance analyses
- Develop analytical models supporting reactor system performance, transient evaluations, and operational assessments
- Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering activities across reactor design, thermal-hydraulics, safety analysis, mechanical design, and licensing functions
- Support the development of system operating philosophies, startup procedures, and operational concepts
- Evaluate system design alternatives and conduct trade studies to improve performance, reliability, maintainability, and cost-effectiveness
- Support safety analyses, accident evaluations, and risk-informed design activities by providing system design inputs and engineering expertise
- Interface with vendors and suppliers supporting pumps, valves, heat exchangers, piping systems, and related equipment
- Prepare engineering calculations, technical reports, and documentation supporting licensing and regulatory activities
- Participate in design reviews, system integration reviews, and technical decision-making processes
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to system design and analysis engineers
Skills
- Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Nuclear Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline
- 10+ years of experience in nuclear systems engineering, reactor fluid systems design, or thermal-hydraulic analysis
- Strong understanding of reactor coolant systems, primary heat transport systems, and nuclear plant system integration
- Experience developing system requirements, system design descriptions, and engineering specifications
- Proficiency with thermal-hydraulic and system analysis tools such as RELAP5, TRACE, Modelica, MATLAB, AFT Fathom, or equivalent
- Strong understanding of fluid mechanics, heat transfer, thermodynamics, and system performance analysis
- Experience with pumps, valves, piping systems, heat exchangers, and pressure boundary components
- Familiarity with ASME codes, nuclear safety requirements, and advanced reactor system design methodologies
- Excellent analytical, technical writing, and communication skills
- Proven ability to coordinate multidisciplinary technical efforts and lead complex engineering programs
- Passion for clean energy, innovation, and developing advanced nuclear technologies that transform the future of power generation
- Experience supporting NRC licensing, safety analysis, or design certification activities is highly desirable
