Why This Role Matters

Our Artificial Intelligence (AI) Data Team is at the heart of arenaflex’s next‑generation language services. The data you curate, annotate, and validate will directly influence the performance of large language models (LLMs), conversational agents, and other natural language processing (NLP) solutions that power millions of interactions daily. By ensuring the highest quality of training data, you help us deliver AI experiences that are accurate, trustworthy, and user‑centric.

Role Overview

We are seeking a meticulous, self‑driven Data Entry Specialist who will work remotely to support the AI Data Team. In this role, you will be responsible for creating, reviewing, and refining high‑quality language datasets that feed into arenaflex’s AI pipelines. You will collaborate closely with Language Engineers, Machine Learning Scientists, and product managers to translate complex linguistic concepts into structured, machine‑readable formats.

Key Responsibilities

  • Data Collection & Annotation: Build a deep understanding of data collection guidelines and annotation schemas; accurately label English (US) language data according to project specifications and deadlines.
  • Quality Assurance: Participate in data validation, cleaning, and quality‑control initiatives to ensure consistency, completeness, and correctness of datasets.
  • Error Analysis: Conduct thorough error‑pattern investigations, identify systematic annotation issues, and propose corrective actions.
  • Collaboration: Work alongside other ML Data Linguists to resolve ambiguities, reconcile annotation conflicts, and refine annotation guidelines.
  • Feedback Loop: Provide actionable feedback to Language Engineers on annotation tools, workflow efficiencies, and potential improvements to data pipelines.
  • Process Optimization: Contribute to the development of automation scripts and tooling that reduce manual effort and increase data throughput.
  • Dataset Creation: Curate specialized language corpora for model training and evaluation, including domain‑specific datasets such as medical terminology or technical jargon.
  • Project Management: Manage multiple annotation projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks based on business impact, and adapt to shifting timelines.

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Linguistics, Communication, Cognitive Science, or a related field with a solid foundation in phonetics, semantics, pragmatics, discourse analysis, and speech research.
  • At least six months of hands‑on experience in natural language data labeling, annotation, or related data‑curation activities.
  • Native‑level proficiency in English (US) – CEFR C1 or higher.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; ability to convey complex linguistic concepts clearly.
  • Strong organizational abilities, keen eye for detail, and a passion for delivering error‑free work.
  • Comfortable thriving in a fast‑paced, highly collaborative, and dynamic remote environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to juggle multiple projects, re‑prioritize on short notice, and meet tight deadlines without sacrificing quality.

Preferred Qualifications & Skills

  • Quick learner with the capacity to master new annotation guidelines, domain‑specific terminology, and emerging AI concepts.
  • Familiarity with command‑line interfaces and basic Unix commands.
  • Experience using natural language processing tools such as spaCy, NLTK, or similar libraries.
  • Hands‑on experience with data formats like JSON, XML, and HTML, and the ability to manipulate them programmatically.
  • Background in the healthcare or clinical domain, or prior exposure to medical terminology, is a strong plus.
  • Passion for linguistics, language technology, and artificial intelligence.
  • Proficiency in at least one scripting language (e.g., Python) to develop simple automation scripts for data handling.

Core Skills & Competencies

  • Analytical Thinking: Ability to dissect linguistic data, spot patterns, and draw meaningful insights.
  • Collaboration: Strong teamwork orientation; comfortable providing and receiving constructive feedback.
  • Adaptability: Flexibility to adjust to evolving project scopes, new annotation schemas, and shifting priorities.
  • Technical Literacy: Comfort with basic programming concepts, data manipulation, and version‑control systems.
  • Time Management: Self‑discipline to structure workdays, meet deliverables, and maintain a healthy work‑life balance.

  • Regular participation in “Innovation Days,” hackathons, and cross‑functional workshops that encourage creative problem‑solving.
  • Tuition reimbursement and certification support for relevant courses (e.g., Coursera, edX, or university‑level programs).
