Network Engineer Level III, Firewall

Remote role Full-time Open position

Job Description:

Design and implement advanced network architectures to support organizational goals and scalability.
Lead the planning and execution of network upgrades, migrations, and expansions.
Perform advanced troubleshooting and root cause analysis for critical network issues.
Optimize network performance and scalability through proactive monitoring and adjustments.
Develop and enforce network policies, procedures, and security protocols.
Manage the lifecycle of network hardware and software, including procurement and upgrades.
Collaborate with stakeholders to assess and address long-term network requirements.
Document network designs, configurations, and operational procedures for knowledge sharing.
Mentor and train junior engineers to build team expertise and capabilities.
Ensure compliance with federal IT security standards, such as FISMA, NIST, and other applicable regulations.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
7 years of experience in network engineering or a related IT role.
Expertise in advanced networking protocols, such as MPLS, BGP, and QoS.
Proficiency in managing enterprise-level network hardware and software.
Strong understanding of network security frameworks and tools, including firewalls and intrusion detection systems.
Experience with cloud networking solutions, such as AWS or Azure.
Relevant certifications, such as Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or Juniper Networks Certified Professional (JNCP), are highly desirable.
Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills.
Ability to work independently and lead cross-functional teams in high-pressure environments.
Strong analytical skills to assess and improve network performance and reliability.
