Accounting Analyst

SCS Engineers is looking for a Staff Accountant to support their accounting and financial operations team. The role involves performing various accounting functions, ensuring the accuracy of financial records, and supporting month-end and year-end close activities.

Responsibilities

  • Perform complex accounting and bookkeeping functions to support the organization's financial operations
  • Maintain accurate financial records while ensuring compliance with company policies and accounting standards
  • Prepare recurring monthly journal entries
  • Participate in semi-monthly and monthly closing processes, including bad debt accruals, depreciation entries, and other accruals and adjustments
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts and prepare correcting journal entries as needed
  • Reconcile fixed asset depreciation schedules to the general ledger
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close activities
  • Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules within BNA software
  • Process fixed asset additions, transfers, adjustments, and disposals
  • Prepare and maintain fixed asset tax reporting documentation
  • Prepare financial statements, management reports, and supporting schedules
  • Analyze financial data and investigate account variances and discrepancies
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities
  • Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable functions as needed
  • Prepare schedules and supporting documentation for external CPA audits
  • Assist with miscellaneous financial and compliance audits
  • Update and distribute aged accounts receivable reports on a weekly basis
  • Prepare and distribute average days receivable reports on a monthly basis
  • Maintain accounting records, files, and report distribution processes
  • Review office data for accuracy prior to system entry
  • Support preparation of operational scorecards and management reporting
  • Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned

Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field required
  • Minimum of 1 year of accounting experience, preferably in a professional services or project-based environment
  • Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, and financial reporting
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and accounting software required
  • Accurate ten-key data entry skills
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
  • Experience with fixed asset accounting and depreciation schedules preferred
  • Deltek Vantagepoint experience preferred
