Senior Research and Policy Associate, Government Relations

Avōq’s Government Relations team is seeking an intelligent, proactive, and motivated professional to assist its’ team of Federal lobbyists in performing research and writing projects on behalf of Fortune 100 clients, major trade associations, and leading public interest groups. The Senior Research Associate will be supervised by the Senior Director, Government Relations. This role is ideal for anyone who has demonstrated research and analytical experience in a political setting (campaign, Capitol Hill, political committee) and is eager to become part of an integrated team that works hard every day to spur action.   • You’re interested in government relations, politics, and/or public policy and looking to gain exposure and experience in a fast-paced professional services setting.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Develop and maintain a general knowledge of Avoq clients and the issues that impact them.
  • Develop a strong understanding of the legislative process and how that drives advocacy efforts and strategic goals.
  • Support and collaborate with Avoq’s government relations principals to advance clients’ policy & advocacy goals.
  • Support the Senior Director in managing Avoq’s research team, including interns.
  • Complete legislative, public policy, and other research projects as directed.
  • Coordinate the drafting and production of client publications such as issue alerts and newsletters.
  • Attend hearings as needed and draft summaries for clients and/or internal principals.
  • Prepare and edit client memos and proposals.

Your Experience As a qualified candidate, you have experience in:

  • 3+ years’ experience on Capitol Hill or in a government affairs setting.
  • A strong and demonstrated interest in politics and public policy.
  • Proven research, writing, and editing skills.
  • Experience with research tools such as Bloomberg, Politico Pro, and Quorum.
  • Strong judgment and the ability to assess situations, weigh competing considerations, and determine appropriate paths forward.
  • The ability to work independently and juggle multiple projects.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.

The salary range for this role is $63,000 - $78,000 We offer a uniquely rich benefits package to support our team’s quality of life outside of work that includes:
