Responsibilities
System Architecture: Lead the design and development of scalable, high-performance backend systems from concept to deployment. Core Development: Develop solutions for processing, storing, and analysing data at scale. Infrastructure & Scaling: Optimize application performance and ensure the reliability of services running in a cloud-native environment. Data Management: Design and maintain complex databases, ensuring data integrity and query efficiency across relational and non-relational systems. Complex Integrations: Manage and implement multi-system integrations, handling high levels of complexity and technical interdependencies. Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams to define project objectives and participate in rigorous code reviews to maintain high quality. Innovation: Stay current with emerging technologies and trends to ensure Mend.io remains at the forefront of the industry. Must Have: 4+ years of experience with the Java language, including experience with multithreading, concurrency, and performance optimization, 6+ years of experience in software development, Experience with SQL backend, preferably PostgreSQL, Experience with Kafka/RabbitMQ, Experienced with AWS and CI/CD pipelines, Experience with AI tools (i.e. Cursor AI or Claude), Ability to take tasks from requirements to deployment quickly and independently, Ability to work within distributed, multidisciplinary teams, Design and build scalable, high-availability mission-critical systems and APIs, Experience with test-driven development. Advantages: Understanding of what is an open-source supply chain, Experience with cybersecurity.
