Virtual Sign Language Interpreter | New Mexico

A contract opportunity is available for a Sign Language Interpreter specializing in telehealth services within a school environment. Based in Albuquerque, NM, this role requires delivering high-quality interpreting support to facilitate communication between hearing-impaired students and educators through virtual platforms. Key Responsibilities:

• Provide accurate and clear sign language interpretation during telehealth sessions and virtual classrooms
• Collaborate with educators to support student participation and comprehension remotely
• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism adhering to ethical standards
• Document interpreting sessions and maintain logs as required
• Adapt interpreting methods to accommodate different virtual learning tools and platforms

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with strong telecommunication interpreting skills
• Experience interpreting in educational or telehealth settings preferred
• Familiarity with virtual communication technologies (Zoom, Microsoft Teams, etc.)
• Ability to work independently as a 1099 contract interpreter
• Excellent communication and cultural sensitivity skills
