• Run for state legislature in your district as an Unaffiliated candidate (which is the official term for Independents in Minnesota). We’ve identified the highest likelihood districts for Independents to win throughout Minnesota.
• Represent your community's actual values, not a party platform.
• Use GoodParty.org's AI-powered tools to build your campaign, connect with voters, and manage your outreach.
• Work with our Campaign Success team to develop your campaign strategy, messaging, and voter outreach plan.
• Engage your personal and professional network to fundraise and build early momentum.
• Show up in your community at events, at doors, and have conversations that matter.

Who we're looking for:

• You're up for the challenge of running as an Independent — and you believe your community deserves better representation than they're getting.
• You've lived in your community for several years and many people know you.
• You have a track record that gives you credibility: a business you've built, an organization you've led, a service role you've held, a cause you've championed, or an election you've won at any level.
• Your values and policy positions reflect what your community actually cares about.
• You're not affiliated with a political party, and you're not interested in being a party politician.
• Your fundraising sources would come from living people, not corporations, unions, or PACs. You reject big-money politics.
• You have at least one social media account, a smartphone, and are reachable by email.
• You're genuinely open to running for office.
• You're frustrated with the two-party system and ready to do something about it.

What it takes to run: Running for state legislature is a real commitment. It involves filing paperwork, meeting ballot access requirements, building a small team, raising money from your network, and campaigning in your district over several months.
