Job description: We are currently seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Part-Time Staff Accountant. In this role, you will be responsible for various accounting functions, including preparing sales invoices, processing vendor invoices and reconciling bank and credit card statements. Additionally, you will play a crucial role in maintaining accurate financial records and assisting with month-end close procedures. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
What You'll Do:
- Prepare sales invoices to be sent to clients, ensuring accurate and timely invoicing.
- Process vendor invoices for payment in the accounting system, ensuring accuracy and adherence to company policies and procedures.
- Perform bank reconciliations to ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial transactions.
- Review and process employee expense reimbursements, verifying supporting documentation and compliance with expense policies.
- Enter time entries by client/project in the accounting system, maintaining detailed records for billing purposes.
- Code credit card transactions and collect receipts, ensuring proper expense classification and documentation.
- Assist with month-end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.
- Prepare month-end financial statements, including balance sheets and income statements.
- Prepare client profitability reports.
- Assist with quarterly sales tax submissions, ensuring compliance with applicable tax laws and regulations.
- Support ad hoc projects and initiatives as needed.
- 4+ years of relevant experience, exposure to public accounting a plus.
- Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and financial reporting standards.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to learn and work remotely and independently
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including but not limited to formulas and functions (vlookups, sumifs, text to columns, conditional formatting, etc) and data analysis tools (pivot tables, filtering, and sorting).
- Recent experience with cloud-based accounting software applications, Quickbooks Online a plus.
- Comfort with Mac OS and Google Drive
- An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job.
