Job description: Position Summary: Provide content tutoring in mathematics to a diverse student population with varied academic needs.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Tutor students primarily in algebra through calculus
- Work with students in person and through online platforms
- Collaborate with faculty to incorporate course-specific learning outcomes during tutoring sessions
- Help students identify their own individual strengths and skills in order to make study plans, establish academic goals, and maximize the student's potential
- Participate in outreach activities and tutoring services
- Assist in the maintenance and evaluation of tutoring materials and services
- Collaborate as a team member of the Student Success Center (SSC)
- Perform other duties, responsibilities, or special projects as assigned
- Bachelor of Science in Mathematics required, Master's degree strongly preferred
- Experience with college level tutoring strongly preferred
- Ability to also tutor statistics strongly preferred
- Comfortable working with students one-on-one, and in small group formats
- Demonstrated commitment to promoting inclusiveness and cultural competence; experience working with underrepresented students and students from at-risk backgrounds
- Experience and understanding of current issues and developments in higher education
- Outstanding verbal, writing, and presentation skills; must be able to communicate and interact effectively with Mount Mary students, employees, and alumnae
- Exceptional ability to multitask and prioritize projects
