Our Central Coast Home Health and Hospice team is seeking an experienced Medical Data Entry Specialist to join our Intake team in the San Luis Obispo office. This is a full-time, on-site position that requires a strong work ethic, excellent communication skills, and a passion for delivering high-quality patient care.

Job Summary

As a Medical Data Entry Specialist, you'll play a critical role in our Intake team, responsible for reviewing and processing incoming faxes and communication from doctor's offices, hospitals, and other healthcare providers. You'll work closely with our receptionist and intake team to ensure that all new patient referrals are accurately entered into our computer system, creating comprehensive electronic medical records. This position also involves answering phones, providing exceptional customer service, and supporting the rest of the intake team.

Responsibilities

* Review and process incoming faxes and communication from doctor's offices, hospitals, and other healthcare providers

  • Determine the correct routing for faxes and other documents
  • Input new patient referrals into our computer system, ensuring accurate and comprehensive electronic medical records
  • Answer phones as backup to the receptionist, providing exceptional customer service to patients, families, and healthcare providers
  • Support the rest of the intake team, ensuring seamless communication and collaboration
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, adhering to arenaflex's policies and procedures
  • Participate in ongoing training and education to stay current with industry developments and arenaflex's policies and procedures

Requirements

* Previous work experience in a busy office environment, preferably in a healthcare setting

  • Strong communication and computer skills, with the ability to type at least 40 WPM
  • Excellent attention to detail, phone etiquette, and ability to work well independently and in a team environment
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field preferred
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple responsibilities
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and make sound decisions
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion

Preferred Qualifications

* Experience with electronic medical records (EMRs) and other healthcare software systems

  • Certification in medical terminology, coding, or a related field
  • Bilingual or multilingual skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with patients and families from diverse backgrounds
  • Experience working in a home health or hospice setting

Work Schedule

* Full-time hours, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

  • Weekend rotation required, with occasional evenings and holidays
