Job Responsibilities

As a Patient Account Specialist, you'll be responsible for handling incoming calls from patients, providing timely and effective support for their billing and insurance inquiries. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Patient Calls: Receive and respond to inbound calls from patients, providing clear and concise information about their billing and insurance inquiries.
  • Account Review: Review patient accounts with outstanding balances or incorrect balances, using your problem-solving skills to resolve issues in a timely manner.
  • Communication: Communicate effectively with patients, healthcare providers, and other stakeholders to resolve billing and insurance issues.
  • Payment Processing: Process payments and set up payment plans for patients, ensuring that all financial obligations are met.
  • Rapport Building: Build rapport with patients by being courteous, friendly, and professional in all interactions.
  • Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with the AR Team and other stakeholders to resolve complex issues and ensure seamless communication.

Key Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you'll need:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent: A high school diploma or equivalent experience is required.
  • Call Center Experience: Previous call center experience, preferably in the healthcare industry, is a plus.
  • Medical Billing Experience: Experience in medical billing, either in a call center or clinical setting, is highly desirable.
  • Exceptional Communication Skills: Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills are essential for success in this role.
  • Active Listening: The ability to actively listen to patients and respond to their needs in a timely and effective manner.
  • Attention to Detail: A high level of attention to detail is required to ensure accuracy and precision in all interactions.
  • Multitasking: The ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and resolve complex issues.
  • Self-Motivation: Self-motivation and a strong work ethic are essential for success in this role.
  • HIPAA Compliance: A quiet, HIPAA-compliant workspace with no distractions is required.

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following qualifications are highly desirable:

  • Bachelor's Degree: A bachelor's degree in a related field, such as healthcare administration or business, is preferred.
  • Certifications: Certifications in medical billing, customer service, or a related field are highly valued.
  • Language Skills: Proficiency in multiple languages is a plus, particularly in languages commonly spoken by arenaflex patients.
